THE STORY OF US » How We Met » Love NOT at first sight

posted 2 years ago

We met summer of 2006 with completely different agendas. I was in Dallas, TX for an internship and to finally gain some independence from my parents.  Sothea was in Dallas, TX for an awesome summer with the Fab Four and to get away from reality of life.  We were introduced to each other at the AMC24 at Stonebriar Mall in Frisco, TX after my first day at the internship by my cousin Melisa.  I just shrugged my shoulders at the introduction thinking this was just another friend of my cousin that I would just know of.  I didn't even bother attempting to actually retain his name! Don't feel bad for him just yet though... Sothea's presumptive description of me prior to our introduction was a sheltered, nerdy girl with thick glasses and a complete hot mess! Someone he could really care less to get to know more about!

That summer's activities is a whole other story book to tell, but in the end, I guess one can say we both benefitted from it!

THE STORY OF US » The Proposal » The day after Christmas

We were riding up to the top of the mountain for the last run of the day.  At the top of the mountain, FH called me over to take a picture with him, but requested I take off my gloves for the picture. Weird request as I responded, "It's cold babe, I'm keeping my gloves on!!" He calmly responds, "Take them off, hunny." My brother follows in suit with attitude, "Just take it off, Alice!"  Wide eyed , I reluctantly complied and removed my gloves for the picture. As we posed ourselves and smiled for the picture, he whispers, "You know I love you with all my heart, right baby?" I naturally responded with a smile plastered to my face for the picture my brother was taking forever to take, "Of course, baby. I love you too!" My brother hadn't lowered the camera yet to signal the picture was taken, when he was moving away from me. Confused, I assumed we were down taking pictures and were grabbing our gear to head down the mountain, when he reached for my left hand, got down on one knee, and presented the ring. Sadly, it took me a good few seconds to realize what was going on... When the situation became obvious, he was proposing!

I absolutely loved my wedding day hair. While the front wasn't loose and bouncy, it stayed up and away from my face all day and night. I couldn't be happier!

I only wore two pieces of jewelry on my big day, but with the rhinestones on my dress, these were the perfect complements to my wedding day look!

During the course of courtship, we never went ring shopping. When then-boyfriend  was ready to propose, he tried to get an idea of what type of ring I wanted so he had my MOH send me a picture of the ring she liked from Blue Nile and told me to show her a picture of what type of ring I liked. Little did I know it was for me and she was playing devil's advocate! haha!! Since I didn't really think much about it, I ignored her email for a few days till I started receiving hate emails from her. I should have known something was up, but I didn't. Annoyed, I quickly browsed Blue Nile for something I liked in princess cut and sent it her way to shush her. I later found out he hated the styles I sent over and decided on a setting on his own. He really wanted the round, but knew I wanted the princess cut. Can you tell who won?

I was dying to have colored heels, but alas it wasn't meant to be. Fortunately, I did find a pair of super comfy heels that didn't require me to break into and lasted me all night long!! And for only $35!! Score!!!
