My fiance and I had just met at a friends house when he annouced to everyone that he was going to go skydiving within the week and he said that if anyone would like to join him than they were more than welcome to. In the town that we grew up in, skydiving is a big deal and it was something that I had always dreamed of doing. Therefore, I told him that I would join him. So the next time we saw each other we were falling towards the ground at about 120mph, it was exilerating and a wonderful bonding experience.
After we went skydiving together we started to hang out more often and my trips back home from college often involved seeing him. After 6 months of hanging out and getting to know each other we decided that we liked each other and wanted to be more than friends. So, he asked my dad if he could date me, then it wasn't even a year and a half later when he asked my dad if he could marry me.
With absolutely no hesitation I said "yes!" when he said "will you marry me?"
The past two years have been the most wonderful time of my life. He is my best friend.
This is a picture of us when we went skydiving together!
Jared, my fiance, has always been very romantic. He loves to get dressed up in a suit and take me out on dates, grab a blanket and head to the beach to look at the stars, or stay in and cook me dinner then make a fire outside. What ever it may be, he always turns it into something sweet and fun.
He had a hard time deciding how he wanted to propose because he had so many wonderful ideas. I would describe each of his ideas, but I think it's better to just tell you how he actually did it.
Most every sunday after church we would go to one of the local parks and follow the trail to our favorite spot that was surrounded by oak trees with just the perfect amount of shade. We always had the most wonderful conversations under this tree and everytime we were there was always enjoyable. Therefore, it was very dear to us and is a spot that will forever be "ours."
However, Jared just recently joined the Navy and is away for his schooling. But, he got a chance to come home and so after church we went to our tree to just spend some quality time together. This is when he told me to sit across from him (cross legged just like we were when we first said I love you) and he began to repeat everything that he said when he first told me that he loved me. He made promises to me to protect me, provide for me and to always be there for me. He then began to say that he had something for me to hold, and thats when he took off his dog tags and the engagement ring was hanging from his dog tags.
It was perfect and I couldn't have been more thankful for the thought that he put into it.
This is a picture of how the ring was when he proposed <3
Because my fiance is in the Navy, he was only home for 5 days before he had to go back to his base. Also, because I'm not sure when I will see him again, it makes wedding planning and traditional timing for things a lot more difficult.
He proposed on a sunday and had to leave on tuesday morning. So, after he proposed I called up one of our best friends and asked her if she would like to take engagement pictures for us the very next day. She thought it was a great idea and she happily took on the task. So, engagement=sunday, engagement pictures=monday, and he left on tuesday :(
BUT! I could not be happier with these pictures, I absolutely love them and couldn't be more thankful that she was able to do them for us!
