THE STORY OF US » Engagement Pictures » E-Pics around Nashville, TN

posted 2 years ago

Here are some of my favorite engagement pics taken around Nashville, TN.  Namely, we went to the Parthenon / Centennial Park and downtown Nashville near and around the court house.  Our photographer was fantastic - Chris and Adrienne Scott.

WEDDING PARTY » Bridesmaids » The Bridesmaids and Groomsmaids

So we decided to do things a little bit differently.  We each chose two gals and two guys for our sides.  We each had a brother on our side, and the rest were friends.  Here are some pics of us girls.

I had them wear one of their own black dresses.  They showed me pics of that they had in mind and I approved their choices (though honestly I didn't have to!  they did a great job).  In fact, their dresses were all similar in fabrics, so it worked out well.  They did whatever they liked with their hair and jewelry and shoes.

WEDDING DAY » Cake » A Green, Black, and Champagne Cake

posted 2 years ago

Our cake was tasty - chocolate and lemon layers!  The cake didn't turn out exactly the way I wanted it to - I didn't want fondant, and I wanted it square - but I think it still turned out beautifully!  I gave our baker a swatch of my dress, so the color of the cake matched my dress while the flowers resembled the flowers on my dress as well.

Reception Hall and Catering - Millennium Maxwell House Hotel

The Millennium really did their best to cater to our needs. We didn't have a huge budget for food, so what they offered fit right in to that.  It wasn't fantastic food, but it worked for us.  There was some confusion about the bill, and about the way the alcohol was supposed to be handled, but that was probably more our fault than theirs.  Basically, my dad got involved a few weeks before the wedding, calling them all the time, and they didn't know who to listen to - us or him.  In the end, they listened to us, which got him upset, but that's what they were supposed to do.  The day of, they handled things really well, except for the fact that they bothered my husband with paper work at the end of the night.  I wish they had waited, especially since we had already taken care of the bill.  But whatever! The space itself was amazing, specifically the upstairs room we used for the reception!  All in all, I'm very happy with them.

Chris and Adrienne were by far our favorite vendor.  Our senses of humor just clicked during the first meeting, so we knew almost immediately that they were the right ones for us.  They worked long hours during our wedding, from the time I started getting ready to after we had left.  Our engagement and wedding pictures all came out exceptionally beautiful.  They just have this ability to see something - like a hill behind a hotel - and turn it into an amazing photo shoot.

Flowers - Fresh by CarryAnn - http://www.freshnashville.com/index.html

CarryAnn was by far one of our best vendors.  Not only did she give us fantastic flowers, but she went above and beyond her duties.  She stayed for hours while we took pictures, putting our bouquets back in water whenever she could so the hydrangea wouldn't wilt.  Then she helped out with the ceremony by opening and closing the door, rearranging my dress, etc.  Essentially, she became the wedding coordinator we didn't have, running around and communicating with people.  Fantastic!  Plus, her prices were perfect for us.

DJ - GO Discjockey of Nashville - http://www.godiscjockey-nashville.com/

John, the owner, is the one who did our wedding. John was fantastic!  He integrated our music with his perfectly and really listened to our music tastes so that there wasn't a single song I minded.  He interacted with the audience, but wasn't obnoxious about it.  It was so cute when his wife came out and danced with him later in the evening.  I highly recommend him!  And his prices were great!

Cake - Signature Cakes by Vicki - http://signaturecakesbyvicki.com/Home.html

Above all, Vicki's cakes are tasty.  She's also very talented.  Our cake was beautiful, and she matched our wedding colors exactly.  I do wish I had been clearer about not wanting fondant and about wanting square cakes.  Somewhere along the line those points got lost, and that's probably my fault and not hers.  I definitely highly recommend her - just make sure you're clear and that you get things in writing!
