Hello Hive!
I've been on WB for a while now but I never filled out this part of my profile, my apologies! I absolutely have loved being a part of the Hive and have met some great friends here. I chose Bakerella as my screen name because I love love love to bake! Can I say that enough?! If it's baked and has sugar, I will bake it, eat it and love it. Poor Mr B has gained 30 pounds since we met!

We're homebodies, we love to cook and entertain our family and friends. We live on a river just outside of Toronto, where we love to canoe and drive our river raft (that's right, it's a dock with a motor). We have swans that live just across the river from us who I love to feed but am also ridiculously scared of.

We're pretty laid back and love to laugh and have a fun time. I'm a huge fan of roadtrips but also hate to be seperated from my furbabies. We have 3 lovely kitties, Peter, Smee and Glory.
I'm absolutely loving planning our wedding. I'm so excited to marry Mr B, see how our day is going to come together, and to start this next step of our life together. I'm DIYing as much as I can. I'm loving this opportunity to get back in touch with my inner-crafter that's been supressed for a while.
Thanks for reading! See you on the boards!
Bakerella
Four years ago, I lived in a condo just outside of Toronto. I was leaving my condo one day to go to class at college, and I bumped into two guys waiting for the elevator. One of them complimented my shoes flirtatiously ("Nice shoes..." what a classic line), and we chatted for the rest of the elevator ride down to the basement. To this day I honestly have no idea what we talked about and I didn't even take a second glance at the other guy in the elevator because I was so focused on this beautiful man and his big blue eyes. I went to class, sat down in a huff, and announced to my friends "I met the most gorgeous man in the elevator and I'm never going to see him again." I remember being SO mad when I got off the elevator and he didn't ask for my phone number. All I knew was that he either lived on my floor, or his friend did.
A couple of obsessively hopeful elevator riding weeks later, I get into the elevator with these two very sweaty gross looking guys. One of them introduced himself as my neighbour as the other stayed quiet in the corner and I basically ignored him, happy to meet someone remotely close to my age who lived in the building. Fast forward another week or so. I bump into said neighbour and he invites me to his stand-up comedy show. I round up a girlfriend and off we go a couple days later. We get to the show, my neighbour says hello and directs us to a table of his friends. The world stopped as I looked into the same sparkly blue eyes I met in the elevator. I grabbed my girlfriend's arm and whispered to her "Oh my god. It's the gorgeous man from the elevator!!!". We spent that night talking and flirting and finally I knew his name, Mr B. He was also the quiet sweaty guy I ignored in the elevator. Oops.
There was a small problem though. I was leaving for Italy in precisely 12 days. So Mr B and I spent the next 12 days nearly inseperable. We barbequed, we walked along the lake, we ate, I packed my suitcase, and then he unpacked half my stuff and REpacked my suitcase... And at the end of 12 happy days, we had to say goodbye. Off to Italy I went for three months where I had the time of my life but was always wondering what Mr B was doing and who he was with. We talked and emailed and when I came home, he was there. The whole time I was gone, I knew when I came home and saw Mr B, it would be for good.

We've have built our relationship based on laughter, honesty, and our love for our families and friends. Each morning I wake up excited to say good morning, and every night I go to sleep anxious to wake up and start another day with Mr B. We can finish each other's sentences, put up with each other's idiosyncrasies, and are equally as crazy and weird!

Mr B and I had been planning a trip to the East coast of Canada for a couple months this past summer. We renovated an old 1973 Winnebago back to front, top to bottom. It was an ambitious project. I had a gut instinct Mr B was going to propose during the trip but was trying not to get my hopes up JUST IN CASE. Could you imagine driving back from Newfoundland with one angry un-engaged woman?!
After a heck of a lot of work, we hit the road on a Monday evening. We spent the night just outside of the city with my parents so we could miss the Toronto traffic in the morning. In the morning, we were saying our goodbyes out on the front lawn with my parents. There were lots of hugs and kisses all around. My dad looked around very excited asking "Can I say something? Can I say something?" Mr B and I were expecting something along the lines of "Have a great trip! Here's $50 towards your first tow!"... Instead my Dad looked at my Mom and said "I just wanted you to know, Mr B has asked for my permission for Bakerella's hand in marriage and I said yes." Dad was proud as punch. Mr B looked like he watched a puppy get run over. I burst out laughing as my Mom looked at Mr B and said "Never ever tell Dad anything! Don't you know that?! The man CANNOT keep a secret!!!" Mr B, Mom and I laughed until tears streamed down our cheeks while Dad innocently looked around asking "What??? What????" When we were finally in a semi-composed state, Mr B simply said "Well, do you want your ring?", and obviously I said YES!!!! Mr B went to the RV to get the ring and when he got back, he got down on one knee (still on my parents front lawn!!!) and told me how much he loved me and asked me to marry him. Again, another resounding yes, and tears for a whole different reason!
Two footnotes to this story. First, the whole time Mr B was down on his knee, my mother was weeding in the garden. When my Mom weeds, she throws everything behind her. I was dodging weeds during Mr B's proposal while my Dad was pulling on my Mom muttering "Get up! This is kind of important!" Ahhhh true to my family's style...
Secondly, according to my Dad, Mr B had given him permission to tell people about our engagement as soon as we were "out of Toronto". Dad took the meaning quite literally as my parents house is about 1km from the Toronto border. I can safely say I'm sure there are not many brides out there who have been proposed to by their father!!!!
A couple weeks ago we got together for an amazing e-pic session with our photographer Justin DeMers of Stillmotion. I love that we did them at our house. Justin really highlighted the things that are important to us. We're homebodies. We love our cats, our canoe, where we live, and most importantly, each other.
