THE STORY OF US » Who We Are » Mr. and Mrs. BF - About us!

posted 2 years ago

Hello! I'm Mrs. Ballet Flat, a blogger for Weddingbee! I've been blogging about my wedding planning adventures on here since September 2008! I enjoy spending time with Mr. Ballet Flat, especially our date nights of clearance shopping at Target and mexican dining. :) I'm also pretty crafty. You can probably find me at Michael's on any given weekend. I also like to cook and bake. Although, baking isn't very healthy, but I always find people to push my food to!

I currently live with Mr. Ballet Flat in Baton Rouge, where I make maps all day, everyday for my job. Yes, that's right, maps. :)

Mr. Ballet Flat is a computer genius. His job is to be a computer genius and he also is a computer genius at home. Hehe! He loves watching sporting events and playing video games. He's a bargain shopper extraordinare, like me, and also enjoys mexican dining, I think. :)

THE STORY OF US » How We Met » The Ballet Flats!

Mr. Ballet Flat and I met in 2004 online using Yahoo Messenger. Usually, I ignore people I don't know on the messenger, but for some reason, I started talking back. We kept talking online for about a month...I would never want to log-off because he was so fun to chat with. In fact, I found myself many times chatting until 3am with him when I had class at 9am...oops!

We were both students at LSU at the time, and we met in person towards the end of my sophomore year. I was very careful to make sure we met in a public place. You never really know right? So, he met me while I worked at the front desk of an on-campus apartment complex.

We dated for a month that summer, and broke up because our personalities clashed so much. We were in very different maturity phases..he was ready to settle and I was ready to party! There is a two year difference between us and at that time, two years appeared to be a HUGE difference!

However, we remained friends through all of this. Fast forward a couple years and relationships for the both of us, we decided to date again. We were dating for 16 months when he proposed on my 24th birthday.

We decided that we wanted to take our time planning since we were in no real rush. Our wedding was a little over 14 months later on May 23, 2009.

THE STORY OF US » The Proposal » Mr. and Mrs. BF - The Proposal

Mr. Ballet Flat proposed to me on my 24th birthday in the privacy of his (soon to be our) home. I don't like to be the center of attention...it makes me turn all shades of red. So, I was really glad that he kept the proposal to just us.

It was perfect...he proposed right after midnight. I wasn't expecting it at all, and I remember trying to fall asleep when he kept talking about us. I was really tired and just out of it and wondering why is he talking so much? I'm tired! :D

He got me wide awake very quickly though. I felt a ring. When we got serious, he always joked with me by sliding my college ring on my finger or would play with my ring finger, but this time, things felt different. I look down in the dark and see a sparkling ring! I started crying and said YES!!

The obligatory engagement ring shot. He chose this on his own, and it's so me! A beautiful solitaire diamond with little diamonds in the band too...SO perfect and I still find myself staring at it in disbelief!!

We took our pictures on LSU's campus, since we both attended college there. It was a beautiful spring day on campus and our photographer, who we booked that same day, helped us feel totally at ease for the shoot. Here's a sample of our favorites!
