I guess it all started when Jenn would come in to visit her Mom, Judy, at work.
Yes, I worked with Jenn’s Mom for over 5 years. Some guys would cringe at the thought of working with their “Mother-in-law”, 8 to 9 hours a day for 5 days a week, but Judy and I got along very well!
Every so often Jenn would come in and visit Judy. I was one of the few people in the office that would actually talk to Jenn. (To be honest, I was surprised she would actually even talk to me!) Jenn seemed to be this young, very classy, always on-the-go, kind of girl that was way out of my league. But, nevertheless, we talked about some of the local bars and restaurants that we both frequented, the first of which was Lucky’s. Ah…Lucky’s. I have no idea what I said that convinced Jenn to have drinks with me there, but she did!
During the course of our conversations, I quickly learned that this “out-of-my-league” girl (Baseball pun intended) was very down to Earth and that was she was much more than this well-dressed world traveler!
There were a bunch of evenings that we would meet up for drinks at Lucky’s. At some point, before the baseball season started, I managed to get a pair of tickets to a Red Sox game. I think I had planned to take No-Hair-Bob to the game but he cancelled and I asked Judy if she thought Jenn would like to go. Judy was pretty apprehensive with Jenn and I meeting up the few times that we did. I had just gone through a really bad break up and Judy didn’t think that I was ready to start dating again.
So April 18th, we went to see the Red Sox play the Devil Rays. I don’t remember much about the game, other than the Red Sox won. I think I was much too enamored by Jenn and just being with her. (And still in shock that she would even go out with me!) I've always considered that our first date.
Over the course of the summer, we kept seeing more and more of each other. I got to meet some of Jenn’s friends, SiouxSanna and Jason. Jason is actually my long lost twin brother from Independence, Missouri…so says Sioux. Both Sioux and Jason could see that I was falling in love with Jenn. **SWOON**
We tried to keep our dating a secret for a while. Because I worked with Judy and mostly because of the possibility of making it a weird situation at work…we thought it was best to keep things hush-hush from the people I worked with. Judy knew that we were together, but most people in the office didn’t. It was killing me to keep in all this excitement of being with Jenn! My only outlet of talking about this amazing girl that I was dating was Jason and my sister! I’m sure I talked their ears off! Over time, I was “allowed” to meet more of Jenn’s family and friends. Apparently she doesn’t bring boyfriends home or mix groups of friends.
That quickly changed! Because I was so close to Judy, I was accepted into the family, but not without being fully interrogated by friends, neighbors, aunts, uncles and cousins! I think I was somewhat prepared for meeting the family because of all the stories I’d heard from Judy. That’s one of the things I really love about Jenn; her family and how close they are.
It wasn’t long before Jenn’s friends and family were hinting around about me proposing to her. I think Jenn was pretty shocked at the idea. I’m just happy that I met the high standard that her family and friends maintain for her! I’m not saying that Jenn is high maintenance…I’m just saying that Jenn only deserves the best of everything! That’s what I want to give her: my complete and total unconditional love and attention. (And diamonds from Tiffany’s!)
It's too long of a story to tell you how, but suffice it to say that my fiance' managed to get me into Fenway during the off-season without me thinking it was to propose. As a matter of fact I had told him the night before that he shouldn't propose anytime soon and that it might be a nice surprise (hint, hint) to propose during our trip to Italy which wasn't for a few more months!

Not only did he give me an amazing proposal story to tell everyone, he also had planned a surprise engagement party for us at one of our favorite places and had our friends and family already there when we arrived!
My mom and my sister (soon to be MOH) made me a bridal survival basket complete with bridal magazines, planners, an Engagement martini glass, a gift certificate for a manicure and massage (for when I got overwhelmed), a frame, wedding scrapbook supplies, the Breakfast at Tiffany's DVD and the sweetest note.

My husband is a home brewer and due to antiquated laws we were unable to serve his beer at our wedding. As a poor substitute I surprised him with a groom's cake (it's all edible!)
