Hey Everyone, Mr. Star and I have been dating about 2 1/2 years. I work as a legal secretary, and he is a plumber. He is also in school to get his license. We got engaged on Nov. 13, 2009 on our 2 year anniversary. We are so excited to be getting married, and have been planning a lot of details for our wedding. We are also in the process of trying to find a place to live, and have been house hunting for a while now. We are both very active with going to church and our bible studies, we love the Lord and can't wait to be a family and serve Him.
Mr. Star and I have actually grown up together. Our families both went to the same church since I was about 8 years old and him about 11. We never really knew much about each other, but our dad's were friends and always talked. Actually, Mr. Star talked to my dad long before he ever talked to me. Once we got older, we started hanging out at a bible study my mom did for the college and career age group. He used to come over and soon we started to do things outside of this group and became friends, and he asked me if we'd ever be more than that. I said yes and we've been together ever since! God's timing is crazy, he was right in front of me the whole time and we never noticed each other!
We had gone ring shopping together, he said he wanted me to be a part of the decision since I would have to wear it for the rest of my life, so I had an idea it would be coming, but it was so hard to keep my mouth shut. I also knew it would be coming because we had so many holidays coming up, Our 2 year anniversary, Thanksgiving, Christmas, My Birthday in January, and His in February! I was surprised how he asked me.
We had been working a lot, and he had a lot of overtime that week, so on our 2 year anniversary we decided to relax, rent a movie and have a quiet night in. I asked him if he could pick up pizza and something for dessert, and boy did he come through on that. When I got to his house, we ate and I left the room for a drink. When I came back, he had set up a tray of desserts, including some of my favorites. On a piece of cheescake, he laid the ring, and I almost couldn't believe my eyes, I was so excited. He got on one knee and asked me to marry him. I couldn't even answer, he just had the ring hovering over my finger waiting to slip it on as soon as I said yes, and I couldn't get any words to come out. Eventually, I was able to speak, and he put it on me. It was such a special moment! Of course, immediatly broken by the fact that I had to call everyone I knew to tell them the good news! Ha Ha!
One other thing, he had to ask my dad, I told him he couldn't ask me till he had his permission, so he got brave and asked him one night when I wasn't around, I was so proud of him for respecting me and my parents, and making this one of the sweetest moments in my life!
Oh ya, the ring is GORGEOUS!!!
We haven't taken official e-pics yet, we are doing a shoot in Boston in July, and than we have to plan one with our actual photographer. I'm so excited to have a pro shoot some for us!
I am having my two sisters as my bridesmaids, small wedding party, less hastle, they are the most important ladies in my life, and I am blessed to have them!
Mr. Star's brothers will be our groomsman, his older brother is in the air force and he will be the best man, his middle younger brother will be a groomsman, and his baby brother is also in the air force, and is not sure if he'll be able to make it, but we keep praying he will.
I can't believe how much fun I had shopping for a wedding dress, I thought nothing was going to fit, turns out I wanted every dress I tried on. I eventually put on "the one" and immediatly knew it was going to be what I wore to marry my best friend.
It has a lace up corset back, it's strapless, with beautiful beading around the chest, I feel like a princess, and it's a shame we only get one day in our lives to wear a big white poofy dress, I think there should be other occasions that we can do this on!
Ok so after hours and hours of looking online to find the perfect bridesmaid dress, I finally found it, I have only two bridesmaids, but they have very different body shapes, so I had to have their input on something they both liked. We finally found it, the trickiest part was finding the right color red!
Red is a very difficult color, most are too orange, but we finally hunted down the perfect, dark, ruby red shade i've been looking for.
Bonus, the back of their dress is corset, just like the back of mine! I'm so excited, that's one pic I defiantly have to get of the 3 of us lined up looking over our shoulders!
My flower girls dresses wound up being on sale which was awesome, since I am having my friend's two daughters as my flower girls. The dresses are a simple tank top style top and a flared skirt. The top is white, the bottom is black and their is a mock belt fastened with a rhinestone buckle, I absolutly love them.
I am DIY'ing all of my flowers, I am getting roses and baby's breath and fern, and making the bouquets myself. My bouquet will be red roses, and the girl's bouquets will be white, since they are wearing red dreses!
I am DIY'ing my centerpieces, again they will be red roses, baby's breath, and fern. I am really excited because we did our trial run of them yesterday and they came out so great! I am so annoyed I can't upload a photo. Anyway, we glued Eiffel tower vases to mirrors, than we built our Bouquet on an Oaisis foam ball and inserted it into the vase, it looks awesome and I can't believe the FI and I were capable of making it look so good.
