THE STORY OF US » Who We Are » Courtney and Bret

posted 2 years ago

I'm an Orange County, California grown teacher who loves to cook! Bret's a Denver, Co grown athlete who loves to eat! We love to travel, watch movies, eat good food and be outside as much as possible. We dated for 5 years and got married on Jan. 16th , 2010. After the honeymoon in Fiji I moved to Denver to be with my love and haven't looked back since!

THE STORY OF US » How We Met » OC girl meets a CO boy

Bret and I both atteneded Cal Poly- San Luis Obispo. On the second day of classes in the Fall of 2004 Bret left a note on my car after locking eyes as we got out of our cars in the morning. He left his number and I called him that after noon. We talked for 5 minutes and he never asked me out- lame! But we somehow ran into each other 7 more times over the next two weeks...it was fate! We went out the next Friday and the rest was history.

THE STORY OF US » The Proposal » We Get to Have the Same Last Name!!

posted 2 years ago

After graduating from Cal Poly, Courtney started the teaching credential program at Cal State Fullerton last January which finished on December 12th 2008. (The triplet’s bday!!) Bret flew into Orange County on the 12th. The plan was for Bret to fly in on Friday and then on Tuesday they were going to fly to Cabo together, where Bret’s family was. A couple days before the 12th Bret suggested they go to San Luis Obispo to celebrate Court being done with school. Sneakily, Friday night he asked her mom and dad for their blessing because he was going to ask her to marry him the next day. Cathy, Court's mom, was uber-excited, but had to be silent because Courtney was upstairs in her room!

So Saturday morning, Dec. 13th, Bret and Courtney drove up to SLO. Hungry as always, Bret suggested they get something to eat as soon as they got there. They had lunch at the Custom House on Avila beach. This is where they had their first date back in 2004. Then, like they used to, they walked around the shops and down to the beach. It was a beautiful clear and breezy day. They were watching the pelicans dive, Bret was keeping Courtney warm and then suddenly he wasn’t holding her anymore. She turned around and he was on his knee. He asked her to marry him,and she said yes! (and declared, shouted and sorta asked "WE GET TO HAVE THE SAME LAST NAME !?! ) From there they went to the Cliff’s hotel where champagne, flowers and a perfect sunset waited.

The funny part of the story is that when Bret popped the champagne cork, it hit the ceiling, then the armoire, then back to the ceiling and landed perfectly into the trash can. Definitely a good sign :)

THE STORY OF US » Engagement Pictures » E-pics with our amazing photog

posted 2 years ago

We took our e-pics on Sept. 25th with our photographer Becker in San Juan Capistrano, Ca. We went to an old downtown area near a railroad track and mission. I am so in love with the light in these pics!! I also love that we are dressed up in a casual environment. Bret and I have a HUGE thing for cupcakes. We find a couple of cupcake places in every new town we travel to so we HAD to incorporate them into our shoot.

DETAILS » Favors » Home Made Fudge and a donut bar

posted 2 years ago

I made 600 pieces of my greatgrandma's fudge two days before the wedding. We boxed them with cute gold cups, wraped tissue around it and placed a poem and the recipe in the box. Each box them had the guests name tied to it with a piece of string and a huge piece of ribbon tied around the box. They were sitting at each table.

We also had a donut bar after the cake cutting was done with take home baggies that read "It donut get better than this"

More pictures to come. The boxes were wraped in kraft paper and  had a cute matching  label with our scroll motif on it. The hard boxes were stamped with our wedding date in gold, the boxes were lined by  matching paper and our motif rotated around it. The invited opened like a folder and pockets on each side. One the left were  the directions, a map, and  website card on the right I had our RSVP.
