after dancing at Richard's, a now defunct zydeco hotspot in the middle of Cajun Louisiana...
He proposed out of the blue, in the rain, on a corner in Amsterdam. Neither of us expected it, so there was no ring, only a heartfelt speech and some tears. For the next couple of weeks, while still in Europe, our smiles never wavered as we carried around this lovely secret.
My dress and I, at first, had a love-hate relationship. Here she is from the back.
And from the front.
I considered taking in the dress, to make it more mermaid-shaped, but decided against cutting into the lace. I think I'll give her some pizazz by adding a few bold necklaces. Maybe a long strand of beads and something else...
"Let's pop into Brooks Brothers," I said, "You will simply TRY ON a suit that fits so we know what size to get you."
Last words.
Bobby the Salesman was great. You should avoid him at all costs.
Here, he's trying it on after bringing it home. That silver tie was FREE from Dillard's. It rang up as zero, and the saleswoman did not feel like getting her manager. He didn't have a white shirt here and he ended up with a skinny black tie (a la Mad Men). In his pocket is tissue paper, but you get the idea.
He felt oh so suave in his new suit and really wanted me to take a picture of him jumping in the air:
Note the lack of socks...
...he usually does wear socks, though.
I decided that my dress looks better with my hair down. Less formal, for a park wedding. My hair trial was FREE (awesome) and took about 15 minutes.
