posted 1 year ago

I am currently a 26 year-old Certified Public Accountant working for a retail real estate company and my fiance is currently a 29 year-old financial advisor. We both love to work out, hang out with our friends and families and take vacations whenever we get the chance. We also love to cook and invite our friends over to play beer pong (I know...very college-like).  We just bought our first place together and taking our time planning our wedding for next September 2011 in Lansdowne, VA.

THE STORY OF US » How We Met » Let's Go Pregaming!

posted 1 year ago

The first night I met Mr. French Manicure was totally unplanned! But then again, who plans a night out to meet their future husband? It all started when I finished up training for my work the Friday before Christmas in 2006. I called one of my college friends up that evening to see if she wanted to go out to DC since we had not hung out in a while.

A couple hours later, she along with a couple of her guy friends picked me up and said we were going to pregame at one of their friend's place in DC. When we walked up to his place, I saw Mr. French Manicure and his twin brother waiting for the door to be opened as well. We introduced ourselves to each other, but I didn't take notice of him too fast for at the time, i was in another relationship with someone else.

We had a couple drinks at the friend's place and went on our merry way to the club. When we first got there, Mr. French Manicure and his brother were gentlemen enough to buy me and my friend a round of drinks. We soon got to dancing and then into a friendly conversation about ourselves...how he moved from MD to NJ, my first job out of college, etc. However, once I mentioned I had a boyfriend, Mr. French Manicure got a little disappointed and turned off that he didn't really talk to me for the rest of the night. When the night ended and I was alone with my friend, I mentioned to her that Mr. French Manicure may have been interested. Knowing the fact that my friend really disliked my boyfriend at the time, she said she will play matchmaker the day I become single.

It must have been fate, because the next week, my boyfriend and I called it quits before I was going to spend New Years with him and his family in California. I was so bummed, my same friend took me out to a New Years party and low and behold...Mr. French Manicure was there! She nudged him and told him that I was newly single...and the rest was history!

THE STORY OF US » The Proposal » Rooftop Overlooking Washington, DC

The week before Labor Day 2009, Mr. French Manicure told me that his company was having a private Happy Hour that Friday after work to celebrate the long weekend. He asked if I wanted to go, so I said "Sure!". He has been to enough work-related parties for me, so I should return the favor. ^__^

As Friday came along, I told him I was getting off around 5:30pm, even though my company allowed us to leave early for the three-day weekend starting around 3pm. When 5:30pm came along, Mr. French Manicure called me right on the dot to see if I had left the office already. I told him I was on my way but secretly took my sweet time to leave the building since I had to finish up some things. A few minutes later, my mom had called me to see where I was. It wasn't odd that she would frequently call to see what my status was, but she rarely calls me on a Friday afternoon. I didn't think anything of it.

I took the train a couple of stops to meet Mr. French Manicure at the building he said the Happy Hour was taking place. He told me to give him a call once I was outside so he can get my through the building security. Once I got inside the building, he took me straight up to the Penthouse floor. When I walked towards the outside of the rooftop, I realized how quiet it was. Happy Hours aren't supposed to be this quiet. Hmmm....

As I walked through the double doors, I was taken away at the scenery and the set up. Mr. French Manicure took me to the center of the rose petals he had spread in the center of the rooftop, dropped to his knees and told me how much he loved me. Both him and I really forgot what else he said since he was totally nervous and I was in major shock. Needless to say, I said "Yes!".

We then enjoyed a quiet, romantic dinner of sushi and champagne followed by a round of phone calls to family and friends sharing the good news and then watched the sunset over Washington, DC. It was perfect!
