She is: yarn and green obsessed, dumpling loving.
He is: computer and cured meat obsessed, comedy loving.
What we do: both deep lovers of doing nothing, every spare moment we have is spent watching movies and tv together, cooking and eating delicious foods, and hanging with our adorable kitties.

[Blumbriel is a portmanteau of our last names]
We met on OKCupid.com. Here's our first communication :) I didn't write him back for over two months!
We had our engagement photo session while we were at the Jersey shore on vacation! We had custom t-shirts made to reflect the binary nature of our wedding date (10/10/10): The heart spells "LOVE" in binary, the back has our made up last name + our wedding date, and the sleeve has our initials on it.

On a rainy night in December 2008, my mom and I decided to go to David's Bridal, just to try on dresses. At the time, we were planning on having her (and my aunt's and my grandma's) dress remade for the wedding, and wanted to see what different shapes looked like on me.
So I was not prepared. I walked in and said, "I like empire waists, pick up skirts, and as not-white as they come."
They put two flowy empire waist dresses on me, and then put the least white white dress I have ever seen, with a pick up skirt and sparkles and embroidery on me, and I knew that was it. Over 650 days till my wedding and I had my dress.
(PS: It's Oleg Cassini CT203 - the same dress Mrs. Violet and Mrs. Pineapple have worn).
I plan to make a new sash, in metallic mint green, and maybe have a corset back put in. I am also considering having it bustled, and wearing the bustle the entire tme.

Sometimes I try it on in the bathroom and make my fiance take pictures (still undecided about those gloves).

A view of the back

The sash will be made of the same fabric as the purse pictured here.

I've asked our best ladies to wear black, tea-length, cocktail dresses, with accent pieces in a deep plum and silver of their choice (I am hoping for fascinators, hair flowers, stockings, sashes, shoes, and jewelry accents that bring in the purple). I will also purchase or knit (let's hope!) a purple shawl / wrap for them to wear.
They will each also be wearing a small black birdcage veil (thanks for the inspiration, Ms. Avocado!), that they can arrange and place with in their hair as they see fit.
Some non-watching b-maid inspiration PLUS some black dresses I'll ask the best ladies to consider...

I have naturally wavy hair that veers towards curly when it is shorter. I plan to wear my hair up, in a style reminescent of some of this inspiration photos (slightly curly / messy / vintage-inspired / elegant updo).
Yes, those are pictures from Titanic.

As our wedding date is 10/10/10, we knew we wanted to have some kind of secret binary code on our wedding rings. We found some beautiful wedding rings with a binary engraving on GreenKarat.com, but they were out of our budget.
I came across a link to Titanium Era on some wedding planning site somewhere, and their rings were reasonable, durable, and pretty. We each chose a four letter word, translated into binary, and stuck it on the rings. We each choose the word for each other's rings - he chose "evol" (love backwards) for mine, and I chose "kiss" for his. On the inside, it's engraved with our wedding date, initials, and the infinity symbol.
Super comfy, super reasonable, and we both love them.

For the ceremony, I bought a little silver box off of eBay. We're not having a traditional ring-bearer - my fiance's uncle will have the rings, and present them during the ceremony.

We did not have a formal proposal, so I don't have a typical engagement ring. I do have what I refer to as my non-engagement ring, and wear on the appopriate finger. It's a mystic topaz, and I love it.
Sadly, in July of 09, the band of the ring cracked, and we had a new band / setting created for the same stone.

Old Setting

New setting.

Another shot.
It's a custom ring made by greenKarat - their "West Egg" setting with my stone. An engraved antique style band of recycled white gold, and a four prong setting.
These shoes are dreamy.
They're "Libby Smith" by John Fluevog and I am in love. I will wear these for photos, and possible the ceremony (if it isn't too long!).

These are my more practical shoes - Prima Ballet Flats by Crocs. They'll probably end up on my feet post-ceremony, as standing up for twenty minutes in the Fluevogs may be a bit painful :)

Purchased from "Something Bold" - the Marilyn in Ivory, with the upgraded metal hair comb.

(Yes, it needs to be steamed.. it'll lie an inch lower so it doesn't cut right across my eyes!)

(a very reluctant co-model)
I’m planning on wearing my hair up, with the veil over my face, blusher style, for photos and the ceremony, and then turn it back, and wear it over my hair for the reception. We liked it straight over my face (not off kilter) and straight over my hair (not under my bun, as I originally imagined it).

The best ladies will also be wearing veils (The Elizabeth from Something Bold) in black.
Diane Phillips of DK Designs will be creating my bouquet, our bridal party's flowers, and the corsages and bouts for our family out of clay. I chose to go this route because I'm really sentimental, and being able to keep my bouquet afterwards was really important to me - and she can incorporate flowers that are out of season but have a special meaning to me (which I am so excited about!).
My bouquet will have roses, lilac (!), lilly of the valley, and soft greens in light and deep purple + ivory. Here are some inspiration pictures:

The best ladies will have roses, with some lilacs and lilly of the valley accents, more purple than my bouquet.
Bouts will be grape hyacinths (muscari). My favorite flower growing up! Groom will have a few, and the male family members and best men will have less.

Corsages for the moms will be mostly roses, with a hint of lilac, except for the one for my mom, which will be all lilac.
My parents and a family friend are throwing us an engagement party in December! It'll also be the first time that our families (including our parents!) will meet, and the first time that he'll meet some of my extended family.
Hopefully, the cheese plate will subdue any tension. Yum.
My mom picked out these invites from Wedding Paper Divas. Love them!
