Hi, We're the Snowflakes.  Our wedding was August 29, 2009 in Okoboji, Iowa.  He's a Land Surveyor and I'm a Project Administrative Assistant at an engineering company.  We have FIVE kids between us from previous marriages.  He has three boys (9 and twin 6-year olds).  I have two daughters (9 and 6).  When we're not working or running to all of the kid's activites, we enjoy skiing, boating, relaxing on the beach when we can get there, watching sports and going to Shriners events.

We met on match.com in Sept. 2007.  We chatted back and forth that first day and he asked me for a date, which we planned for two days later. Actually, he wanted to meet up that night at a bar, but I had to play it cool, plus a girl has to get ready for these kind of things :) The next morning we emailed again and he pushed for a lunch date that day. I was crazy and went ahead and said yes. We met at a bar for lunch and ever since then have not been apart.

He says it was love at first sight - I walked in the door, the wind blew my curly blond hair and he was hooked. It took me a little longer, but eventually he woo-ed me over. I think the point where I really knew he was the one was when we went to another wedding and he signed the guestbook with our names together.  We were engaged December 14th on a ski trip to Keystone Colorado. That's where the nickname comes from - I'm his "pretty snowflake".

We were engaged in Keystone Colorado.  I sort of knew something was up, but it came as surprise the way he did it.

We decided to go on our first vacation together Dec. 2007, just 3 months after we started dating.  Since he loved skiing, I decided I would try it out for him (I hate snow, I hate the cold).  Our first day there I went to Ski school and he went up and down the mountain by himself.

About 4 o'clock he caught up with my class and asked my instructor if I could ski down the mountain to end the day with him.  I wasn't so sure I was ready for the mountain, but we did it anyway.  We started down the Schoolmarm trail and about halfway down he stopped to "fix" something on his ski.  Since I didn't stop right near him (still learning the stopping moves), he scooted himself down the hill to me and started talking about how much I meant to him and how much he loved me - sorry I sort of had an out of body experience and started thinking to myself "is this really happening now?"  I eventually snapped out of it by the time he asked the question and of course the answer was yes.  He had my ring - geez it was cold - and put it on.  It was so hard not to rip my gloves off the rest of the way down the mountain so I could stare at my pretty ring :)

When we got down, we celebrated by going back to the condo and -no nothing dirty- got in the hot tub and then went to dinner at a great restaraunt.

My new nickname became "Snowflake" on that trip and it's stuck ever since.

WEDDING DAY » Cake » Gotta love Cupcakes

We chose to go with cupcakes.  We had our own cake to cut (very tiny piece).  All of the cupcakes were filled with chocolate mousse - YUMMY.  I decorated the cupcake holder with dragonflies to go with our lake theme.

Our photographer was running late so we started with the first look.  She positioned him at the end of a dock at the lake facing away and I started walking down.  I was SHAKING.  I got almost to the end when he heard my foot steps and turned around.  I think he likes what he saw...
