THE STORY OF US » Who We Are » K & A

posted 11 months ago

We are K&A.

Meet A: Meet A - my darling fiancé. He has a heart of gold, family is his rock, and he just makes me an all-around better person. For example: A-laid back. Me? Not so much. A-goes with the flow, everything will work out. Me? I secretly try reallllly hard to be this way, but I'm not. I try. He recently graduated with his a Doctorate of Physical Therapy and is now working full time at a private orthapetic clinic.

Meet me – a sports-minded, wedding-obsessed girl working in the finance world. Yeah, that doesn't sound right to me either. Eventually, I hope to be in sports marketing, wedding planning, or (most likely) running A's soon-to-be physical therapy clinic (but really, I want to be a stay-at-home mom, finances-willing)!

Our families are our foundation and our life - most free time we have is spent with them. A. is the oldest of 5, and I am the only girl, with 3 brothers. A. is a Yankee fan, and I'm a Red Sox fan - makes for a fun rivalry!

THE STORY OF US » How We Met » Second Semester Senior Year

posted 11 months ago

We met senior year at Boston College. Shortly after we met, my father was moving me back in from winter break and said, "Nice hat" to A, the Yankee fan in the lobby, as my dad proudly wore his beat-up Red Sox hat. Little did he we know that Yankee fan would be his son-in-law 4 years later! I must say, meeting your future husband second semester senior year is a great way to end a college career! We didn't want anything serious, but we fell hard, and fast, and haven't looked back.  We moved in together October after gradutaion, and have been in the same apartment for the past four years!

(Proof that I have been a Red Sox my entire life - so the Yankee thing? Kind of a big deal, yet amazingly ironic!)

THE STORY OF US » The Proposal » THE Proposal

posted 11 months ago

The first few years after graduation, we had season tickets to the football games. The year he proposed was the first season we didn’t. We had yet to go to a game, so A calls me one day and tells me he got us tickets for that upcoming weekend. First, I’m psyched, and second, I’m shocked that he made the initiative to actually purchase tickets! But I think nothing of it.

Friday, October 16, 2009 - A totally random date, but friends were in town visiting and we had planned to go out to a nice dinner right after work. Remember those football tickets A “purchased”? He told me we had to pick them up before we went to dinner. I clearly didn’t pick up on the fact that it was a little strange we had to get the tickets from a specific building, and we had to pick them up between 5:00 and 5:30 (I’m telling you, your brain shuts off when the time comes for the proposal).

He picked me up from work, and we made our way to BC. I changed in the car and was putting my last bit of mascara on when we pulled into campus. I asked if he wanted me to go with him, to which he oh-so-smoothly replied, “Yeah, when was the last time we walked around BC together?” He then told me that I wouldn’t need my coat since it would be quick (again – brain was shut off – it was FREEZING for October, and we were supposed to get a huge Nor’easter that evening).

We were walking down the prettiest part of campus, enjoying the walk, excited for dinner, A. goes “Oh, before I forget, I got you a Just Because card…” He pulls out the card, I reach for it, but he says, “But I want to read it to you.” My heart skips a beat because I know exactly what is happening but haven’t quite grasped the reality of it yet. And before I know it, he is reading a beautiful card to me, with each line starting with “just because,” the last line reading, ”…and just because you love surprises…” He gets down on one knee and asks me to spend forever with him.

He is on his knee for a little while, and I’m thinking “Why is he down there for so long? I want him to stand up so I can hug him and kiss him!” After I get a YES out, we hug and kiss, and I hear clicking noises and from the corner of my eye, I see two people literally come out from behind a tree. I look at him, “A…did you get a photographer?” and he just says “Yep.” I looked over, and realize that he had hired a photographer I showed him a couple of weeks prior, Lexi Photography, to document our entire proposal! We then went around the BC campus and took some engagement pictures. Ok, enough talking – here are some pictures!

He decided to keep surprising me – we went to our favorite BC bar, and all of our friends and family were there to celebrate with us! It was such a perfect proposal, and I am so excited to be marrying him!
