THE STORY OF US » Who We Are » NavyGirl and NavyGuy

posted 8 months ago

We are...

... 27 year olds with birthdays four days apart.

... obsessed with movies!  We go at least once and week and watch lots at home too.

... living north of Seattle, in a small Navy town.

... friends who met nine years ago.

... Wisconsinites at heart... yes, we like cheese, brats, and beer.

... a former teacher who's now working at Target.

... a former computer programmer who's now flying planes for the Navy.

... more likely to order Chinese food than eat the healthy options in our fridge.

... book lovers!  Even when we don't have money for food, we always find a few nickels to buy a new book.

... in the process of buying our first home together!

... crazy in love Kiss

NavyGuy and I are very strong people individually, but even stronger as a team - which has been amazing discovering throughout our relationship, and now in our marriage.  We actually got married twice!  Once in a justice of the peace courthouse ceremony, and once in front of all of our friends and family in a big traditional wedding (stay tuned for more details on that drama!).

THE STORY OF US » Engagement Pictures » Winter Engagment Portraits

posted 8 months ago

We had our engagement photos taken by our fabulous wedding photographer, Dave Watkins, of Narella Studio.  It was the first time we were all meeting, since my husband and I live in Washington, but grew up in Wisconsin and were getting married in Madison, WI... quite the logistical fun!  The only time we could take the photos was over our Christmas break, and even though Dave's wife was due with their first baby any day, he was great about scheduling a shoot with us!

We started in the Madison Capital Building - where it was nice and warm!

Then we started wandering through downtown Madison.  We're actually standing up on a grate about 5 feet off of the ground in this shot - I love the buildings reflected in the windows!

Mike (my hubby) was really nervous about taking the photos - a fear I wasn't aware of until he admitted it after the shoot!  He was a trooper though, and the engagement shoot was a great warm-up for the wedding day.  I'd highly recommend taking e-pics if at all possible... especially if your groom is a bit camera shy!Dave said we were doing great, except we couldn't stop talking to each other and laughing sometimes!  I love how happy we look in this shot; it's very us.

Our last stop was Monona Terrace.  This was exactly the kind of "artsy" photo I was hoping to get from our photographer.

Taking the engagement pictures was a really fun day, and made us even more excited to see what Dave would come up with on our wedding day!
