As a freshman coming into a large university you had to attend an orientation session. As I sat in the sea of parents and incoming freshman on the most humid day of the summer I noticed a SUPER cute guy on stage. He was obviously an upper classman because he was leading orientation and seemed to be quite popular so I quickly forgot about him. Come to find out, this guy lived in the same dormitory as me and I occasionally saw him around but would never initiate conversation.
Fast forward a year.... I volunteered to assist with orientation and was randomly assigned to a group of other volunteers. I walked in the first day and LOW and BEHOLD... there he was again, in my group. This time I actually spoke with him and we really hit it off. Shortly after our first conversation I called my mother and told her that, "I have met the man I'm going to marry and if it's not him he better have brothers". I then began making excuses to hang out with Mr. Riley like needing a ride (I didn't have a car at the time), buying text books from him, having lunch to catch up, etc. Then one night we ran into each other at a party and thanks to some lowered inhibitions had our first kiss.
After four and a half years, two years of long distance including a deployment to Iraq, and our share of ups and downs we are ready to make the next leap into a lifetime together.
