I knew that my husband had my engagement ring for over a year. We were planning on getting engaged on a trip my dad was taking us on for my high school graduation (2005). But we had a fight and I ended up getting sick so we couldn't go on the trip.
Over the following year, I tried to not think about the fact that he had the engagement ring and I didn't know when it was going to happen. We rescheduled the trip for the next summer (2006). When we were on the trip, we came across 3 different weddings.
On the day after my birthday, we were in Cairns, Australia and we walked down to the waterfront to look for some place to eat dinner. We stopped by a church (passing another wedding) and sat down on some rocks. I was beginning to think that it would never happen and was sort of upset. He leaned over to kiss me and while we were kissing, I felt him reaching into his pocket.
I opened my eyes and there in his hand was a jewelry box. He asked me if I would marry him and I said "I will!"
The cute thing was that he had been planning it for my birthday the entire time (because we were across the date line, it actually was my birthday back home).
It was a chilly autumn morning when my husband and I drove up to Golden, CO to take our engagement pictures. The weather was sort of grey and cloudy. I was beginning to wonder if the pictures would turn out well. As you can tell, I was worried over nothing. Both our engagement pictures and wedding pictures were taken by Steve Stanton!

My husband decided to tickle me when we were trying to take serious pictures!

The fog began to come in near the end of the session, making a sort of moody misty quality.

My SIL was my bridesmaid. The dress was bought from JcPenney.

My husband's tux was rented from Men's Warehouse (MW Tux). It was a Calvin Klein design. He had a blue tie and vest underneath the tux.

My husband had his father as his best man. We had both the dads and the usher wearing the same tuxedo/vest/tie combo. The usher was my husband's cousin.

My hair was done with a curling iron. Some of the curls were then pinned up in order to give it dimension and pulling it out of my face. Since my hair is down to my midback, the style was still long.

My makeup was done by Danica Jardien of Makeup Envy in Denver, CO. She is amazing and so sweet! She used MAC shadows to give me a smokey eye with full false eyelashes. My blush was NARS Deep Throat, which is a little lighter than the famous Orgasm color. My lips wer MAC Lustreglass in Wonder Struck. Since I went with a dramatic eye, I wanted to keep the rest of my makeup more natural.

My wedding jewelry was my something borrowed. I borrowed it from my MIL.

My ring is a channel set diamond band with round and baguette diamonds. My husband's band is tungsten with a carbon fiber inset.

I had an elbow length veil that I wore for the ceremony only. As you can see, veils and wind don't always mix but the photos can turn out gorgeous!

My bouquet was made of various white flowers. I didn't have specific ones that I wanted, I let the florist chose them herself as long as they looked similar to the ones I wanted.

The bridesmaid bouquet was a blue hydrangea bundle.
