THE STORY OF US » Who We Are » Introducing...

I'm Ms. MM and I'm a self-proclaimed blog-a-holic.  Let me be more specific.  I'm not just obsessed with blogs, I'm obsessed with WEDDING blogs.  I mean, why not?  I'm THAT girl.  The girl who had a wedding binder at the age of 10.  I am especially drawn to photography blogs.  I could stare at pictures of strangers for hours.  It's beautiful how photographers capture the emotion and love for each couple.  Some photos even bring me to tears.  I'm very envious of wedding photographers and tend to day dream about becoming one some day.  All in due time.  What do I fill my time with when I'm not staring at my computer screen?  Well, I have a typical desk job that makes me feel like I could do more with my life.  Again, I'm young and have years ahead of me.  Anything can happen!

Mr. MM (aka "the love of my life") was born and raised in St. Louis.  Thank goodness he decided to break away from that city to attend college at KU.  He loves music, sports (Cardinals fan for life) and being outdoors.  He has also convinced me it's a good idea to move to St. Louis.  Yup.  So in 2 weeks, we will pack up our 2 bedroom (very spacious) apartment in Kansas and drive our U-Haul 4 hours to his hometown.  Am I scared? Terrified.  Is it sad to leave my family?  You betcha.  On the other hand - I'm pumped!  I can't wait to have new experiences and adventures with him.  Our sweet dog, Abbey doesn't know what's about to happen, but I think she'll be okay as long as we take her dog bed with us.  If only life were that simple for us, right?

Anyhoo- excited to be sharing my wedding experience with all the other bees.  You all are inspirational to me and I cannot wait to see what the next 9 months bring.

THE STORY OF US » How We Met » Started with a Smile

posted 2 years ago

I remember it like it was yesterday. Four years ago, Mr. MM and I had a class together and I was instantly smitten. My friends can attest to the fact that I constantly talked about him. Although our class was small, Mr. MM probably didn't even know I existed. For two months, we never talked. After the class we had together, we both had to walk across the street to Wesoe, where our classrooms were right next to eachother. Hoping he would decide to talk to me one day, I would try to sit close to him in the hall or outside. Finally, my wish came true! One day in March, I was sitting in the hall and Mr. MM walked up to me. I don't recall what we talked about, but I know I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. For the next 2 months, our relationship grew and we talked after every class. I really looked forward to seeing him each week. Finally, our final semester was coming to an end. He still had not asked for my number! I was completely confused. We got along so well and had so much in common, what could holding him back? So, with two weeks to go in the semester, I decided to bite the bullet and make the first move. I simply asked him if he wanted to meet up for Cinco de Mayo. While we didn't end up meeting that night, we did the next night, and we've been together ever since. I knew from the moment I saw him that we would someday be getting married and I am so thrilled to be the future Mrs. MM!!!

THE STORY OF US » The Proposal » Yummy breakfast + Proposal = THE BEST DAY!

posted 2 years ago

The proposal happened Saturday, March 14th. Two days before that, he asked me if I wanted to head up to Lawrence that Saturday to eat at our favorite breakfast spot, Amie's Cafe. Anyone who knows me knows that I am always up for breakfast, so I agreed without hesitation. Besides, Amie's has the best Biscuits and Gravy! He brought it up again Friday night and I suggested that we walk around campus while we were up there. The weather forecast called for a pretty March day and it had been a long time since I saw campus. He said that we could do that as long as the weather was nice.

Saturday arrived and I woke up hungry for breakfast! I practically had to drag him out of bed because my tummy was starting to growl and I knew we had a 40 minute drive ahead of us. About an hour later, we were sitting at a tiny table in our favorite coffee house. After eating a delicious breakfast, he asked me what I wanted to do. I suggested that we should drive up to campus. So that's where we went! We walked from the Union to the Chi Omega fountain and then down to the KU Campanile. We then made our way back up to Jayhawk Blvd and he asked me if I wanted to sit down. Well, we were right by Wescoe Hall, which is where our relationship started. We sat in a very familiar spot. The exact spot where I had spent so much time smiling at him and the spot where our relationship grew. Mr. MM started to say the sweetest things, which of course brought me to tears. He then said, "I have a question for you," and got down on his knee. It was sooooo great!!! He pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him. Me = "YES!!!" We called family and then walked back to the car where he had champagne chilling in the trunk. Nice touch! We spent the rest of the day celebrating with family and then going to a nice dinner just the two of us.

It was a perfect day and I could not be happier! It's amazing that I knew he was the one since I first saw him. I am so lucky!

For our engagement pics, we decided to capture our favorite memories from when we met.  We took a trip to Lawrence and visited all of the places that were special to us.  I love our photographer and she did a fantastic job!  I can't wait to see how she captures our wedding day!
