My name is Clare and my husband is Noah. We are 20-something professionals living and working in Northern Virginia. I work as a student advisor for an online university and my husband is a Grant Manager for the American Diabetes Association.

We have 2 cats named Kiddie and Eddie and a pit bull named Nixon. They are all rescues/strays that we have collected over the years!! We also currently live with my older brother and my sister in law, but we are in the process of finding our next place!

I enjoy long walks with my husband and dog, baking, sudoku, candles, puzzles, photography, good books, and of course, Weddingbee!

Even though I get made fun of for my love of Weddingbee- I dont care, I love it and has been an awesome source of inspiration and support over the past 9 months that I have been a member! (My old username was Clarebee)

THE STORY OF US » How We Met » College Sweethearts

My husband  and I went to the University of Hartford in Connecticut. It was the start of second semester of my sophomore year (his second junior year) and my friends boyfriend had bought us some wine. It was extremely cold this night in January and she didnt want to walk across the campus alone so I offered to go with her. When we got to her boyfriends apartment he was sitting on the couch with one of his friends. Right away I thought his friend was really cute and then I noticed he was watching C-SPAN. My dad works for C-SPAN and I happened to be wearing a C-SPAN jacket that night as one of my extra layers. I thought it was so funny that he was watching C-SPAN for fun. There was an immediate attraction. A few nights later we saw each other again at a party. We ended up staying on the couch and talking for 3 hours instead of socializing. A few nights later I was a little drunk so I went to his place and spent the night, when we had our first kiss. Ever since that night we started spending every moment together.

We have been through everything together. We graduated college together, we moved back to my hometown and lived with my mom and younger brother for 3 months while my husband looked for a job, we have lived shared 4 different apartments together. We have taken road trips, experienced deaths together, I was there for the birth of his niece and nephew, birthdays, hard times, celebrations - and it gets more and more amazing as time goes on!

THE STORY OF US » The Proposal » Labor Day at the Lake

posted 1 year ago

My husband and I were planning to go to his parents lake house on Lake Oconee in Georgia for Labor Day weekend. He said we should invite my mom because she would think it was fun. My husband had an extra day off work so he flew down a day earlier than me and I flew down with my mom.

When we got to the lake house, my husband told me that we were going to a party at the Ritz Carlton and I needed to get dressed up. He had brought one of my dresses from home and had it dry cleaned(!) so that it was ready for me to wear. I got dressed and did my make up and then met my husband at his parents boat. We were going to take the boat because it is much faster than to drive.

Once in the boat we started going slowly out of the cove as to not create a wake. Right when we got out of the cove my husband stopped the boat. The moon was full that night and we put on some Jack Johnson while we popped champagne. My husband was dead silent which is very bizarre for him, but I guess he was just that nervous!! He was texting someone and I was getting annoyed and then all of a sudden he puts down his phone, apologizes and fireworks started going off! Right as the fireworks were booming above us, my husband got down on his knee and asked me to marry him! I dropped to my knees and we just started kissing as I said yes! I didnt even see the ring when he put it on my finger! And we barely got to see any of our 4th of July sized fireworks (that my husband had to drive to South Carolina to buy) because we were too busy hugging and kissing!

We took the boat back to the dock where his family and my mom were waiting for us! They had a cake that said Congratulations and champagne! Then my husband gave me a letter that he had written the night before saying everything he wanted to say. He said he wrote it because he knew he would be so nervous and might forget to say anything meaningfuL! I still have that letter and cry every time I read it!
