Hello Bee world! Although I've been engaged for almost 6 years, we've recently decided to really go for it 2011!
ME: I'm a 26-year-old self storage facility manager with a 3 year old son. I'm an ex makeup artist and former social Seattle-ite!
HIM: He's a 28 year old delivery driver with a 10 year old son. He's a crazy guy with a crazy past that gives him a slight "bad-boy" edge (he's really a teddy bear though!) And is my complete polar opposite.
US: Although we are still in our "roaring 20's", we've traded in our booze and date nights for ice cream and ball games! But don't get me wrong, our family is never boring! There's always something going on, whether it be an impromptu crayon masterpiece on our living room wall or a videogame show-down where the underdog (my 10 year old step-son) actually beats the master (my fiancé'!). No matter what happens in our crazy home, one thing is always certain - there's lots of love!
Unfortunatley, I don't have a romantic or interesting story to tell our children! And, when asked this question by strangers, friends, or family, I usually get one of "those" looks! Regardless of how we met, we're still together and are in love as much as we were all those years ago!
The Truth - I was in love with, and dated, one of his best friends for several years! 3 years to be exact. At one point, my current fiance' lived with my ex and I! After enduring years of mental abuse and cheating, I was left broken. Luckily, my fiance' was there to help me pick up the pieces and live again!
As much as that 3 year relationship hurt me and forever changed who I am as a woman, I would do it all again, exactly the same. I have been blessed with a wonderful man and a loving family that I wouldn't trade for the world!
Again, no cinderella story here! He proposed to me, in his mom's home one random night, by just putting his mother's old ring on my hand. No crying. No sentimental words. No fireworks or applause. Oh well! We've got a great relationship now and that's all that matters! (I still LOVE that ring though!) =)
SO - once again, our wedding plans have changed! We've considerably tweeked every plan I had, and created this colorful, nature-inspired farm/vineyard wedding! Every color represents an element of nature or the surroundings of our new venue - from the red barn, to the green grapes.
Am I crazy for attempting the largest mish-mash of wedding colors I've ever seen? Probably! But it sure will be unique! Just like our relationship!
