THE STORY OF US » How We Met » Not Quite Love at First Sight (but just as wonderful)

posted 2 years ago

While we have known each other for years (he is my older brother's good friend from high school), but I never liked him much when I was younger.  He always was teasing me and had girls fawning over him.  I left home to go to college then move to New York.  Several years later when I moved back to Chicago from New York did we actually become friends. I like to think he got more chill (and less with the teasing) and I got a little cooler (and grew a spine).  After discovering at a night out to a dance club with a bunch of friends that he could also dance very well, our friendship slowly blossomed into much more (especially after he asked my brother in Vegas! if it was okay if we dated even though we already had been for almost 6 months!)

THE STORY OF US » The Proposal » How I came to love gazebos

posted 2 years ago

On the second day of my Family's trip to Half Moon in Jamaica, we went on our only dinner alone for the vacation to the Sugar Mill. Dinner was lovely complete with strolling violinist and on the way back to the villa everyone was staying in, we took a detour to relax at a nearby gazebo (after some coaxing since I wanted to go back to the villa since my heels hurt). While sitting looking at the water, enjoying the evening, and chatting about the fun we have had, I turned my head to find my sweetheart on his knee (which had gotten sunburned earlier that day) with a beautiful ring asking me to be happy with him together for the rest of their lives. After some tears and exclamations of joy and excitement, I said yes and the rest is history.

We decided on a (royal / midnight) blue and silver palette, which is tricky when it comes to finding flowers.  So we ended up using violet as a nice accent.

STYLE » Rings » Spoiled by the bling

posted 2 years ago

I feel I was definitely spoiled by my rings.  He not only proposed to me with a beautiful ring (hereafter known as the proposal ring), after he insisted we shop for another ring that I picked out (hereafter known as the engagement ring).  He felt it was important for me to keep the ring he proposed to me with, but also have a ring that was in the style I liked most, and since he wanted the proposal secret, we never did ring shopping together until after we were engaged.  So here I present the engagement ring we choose together several months after we were engaged.

WEDDING DAY » Other Wedding Day » '57 Convertible Shots

posted 2 years ago

We were lucky my father owns a classic 1957 Ford Thunderbird convertible.  Even though it was raining on our wedding day, we were able to get a few shots with it right after the ceremony.  They turned out some of our favorites of the day.
