THE STORY OF US » Who We Are » The Roddy Bride and Groom

posted 2 years ago

Well lets start with Mr. Roddy. He is my super Gringo A.K.A. my whiteboy=). Born in Lancaster, PA but raised in multiple parts of PA and Colorado. He's a computer techy by day and a student by night to achieve his Bachelor's Degree. He is a lover of all things art and music and plays basketball during his free time. He's had one heck of a childhood but has learned to overcome all the challenges he had faced to become the great man that he is.

Now for me. I am a Latina born and raised in Bethlehem, PA. I too am a computer techy. I love to read, watch movies, play sports and video games and love anything to do with art and music. With our wedding coming up I am trying to tackle my never ending list of DIY projects. I am oh so excited about marrying the man of my dreams!

THE STORY OF US » How We Met » Yahoo! Personals worked for us...

We met through Yahoo! Personals (yes, we are one of their success stories). The Roddy Groom had probably one of the most "real" profiles that I had found that it caught my attention. Maybe his sharp blue eyes had something to do with that too Wink. After talking for about a week on the phone we decided to meet in person on October 29, 2005 at a local mall to eat dinner and see the movie, "History of Violence." Boy, that was one heck of a first date movie but it really helped to break the ice. It was one of the better days of that time in my life.

I was so impressed with the person I met that I knew something was right about this. Sure enough I was right... Almost 4 years later we get to start a new life together with a whole new set of challenges... I can't wait to start!

THE STORY OF US » The Proposal » The Birthday Proposal

posted 2 years ago

It all happened on my 27th birthday on December 16, 2008. I was definitely surprised and really didn't see it coming or at least not in 2008. Almost the entire day was special...

All I knew about that day was that my FI was taking me to a secret bistro for my birthday dinner. We braved the sleet, snow and rain on that day just to go to dinner. So we arrive at the surprise location. This bistro is connected and associated to a local theatre. The first surprise was the location but somehow I still didn't figure it out. So we have some wine and order our food when he puts on the table 2 tickets to see Cinderella, a play that I have been wanting to see since the summer. That was surprise #2.

Once the play ended we were heading home. Just as we were about arrive home he tells me he has one more place to take me but I had to close my eyes. So I closed my eyes the entire time. We finally get to the location (a local park) and he guides me in the snow (still with my eyes closed too) to what happened to be a gazebo. The gazebo was lit up and blanketed in snow. In the center of it there was a large Christmas tree with bright white lights. Right next to the Christmas tree, he got down on one knee and had me open my eyes. I don't quite remember the exact words he used =) but all I know is that I said "ABSOLUTELY"!!

Now that was surprise #3 and the best surprise thus far!!

This photo was taken at my company's Holiday party just 2 days after the engagement =)

We are having a very small wedding party.

The MOH - My sister

The Flower Girl - My Niece

This is my niece trying on the dress she will be wearing which is a small replica of my dress. Like me she will also be wearing a black sash at her waist.

STYLE » Shoes » The Shoes

I am a two shoe bride.

The Ceremony Shoes:

The shoes I chose for the ceremony were the Clova style by Nina. Of all the shoes I have found these not only fit my personality best but also matched the wedding dress. The pleats one the ankle strap matched the pleats of the black sash that wrapped around my waist.

The Reception Shoes:

When I first saw them I just had to have them. Since I have purchased some Superman items for my groom, I thought it would be cute for me to wear some Wonder Woman flippies.
