THE STORY OF US » Who We Are » Pirate Bride

posted 2 years ago

(Two pirates on Weddingbee?! Awesome!!!)

I am Samisomsam (a nickname my brother gave me that stuck) or Pirate Bride and FI is Nick (no cool nickname, haven't thought of one yet). I work at the sheriff's office in my county answering phones, helping at the front counter, and paying bills. FI is the manager at a pet store an hour and a half away, I get to see him on his two days off a week, one of which I share with him. We both enjoy Warhammer Online (yes we are nerds) and reading and like to spend our day off together at the beach. FI and I worked together at a pet store, the same company he still works for, but at the time there was only one branch we both worked at. I moved away for six months and when I came back, didn't continue working there, but we stayed friends and he asked me out soon after.

We are getting married March 13, 2010 and we are very excited to be sharing our lives together.

THE STORY OF US » The Proposal » Pirate Proposal

posted 2 years ago

Some people think our proposal was silly because he didn't get down on one knee, but it was totally us.

Background: I've had my engagement ring picked out since before I started dating FI and he bought it three months before he proposed (argh!!). So i knew he was going to propose, just didn't know when.

Anywhoo, we had a really hard Christmas weather-wise, my first white Christmas EVER (and I'm 22) so FI had stayed at my house the night before because he never made it to his snowed-in parents' house (he has his own bedroom at my house). He came into my room to wake me up before anyone else was awake and we were just laying in bed talking, I don't even remember what about because I was really groggy from staying up so late. He said something about him already asking the rest of my family and I had no idea what he was talking about. Then he said he wanted to share the rest of his life with me and asked me to marry him. I must have said yes because he slid the ring on my sweaty hand and I couldn't stop kissing him!! I apparently glowed the rest of the day (even when we got the car stuck in the snow). Like I said, totally not a "normal" proposal, but totally us and I loved it.

WEDDING PARTY » Bridesmaids » Pirate girls

posted 2 years ago

My side of the party consists of:

-Maid of Honor: my 18 year old sister
-Bridesmaids: cousin that I've grown up with, she is a year older than me & my best (non family) friend
-Junior bridesmaids: my cousin that I have babysat since she was about 6 months old and is going to be 9 at the time of the wedding & FI's niece
-Flower girl: my cousin who will be 3 for the wedding (she is such a doll!!)

So excited to party with my girls!!

WEDDING PARTY » Groomsmen » Pirate boys

posted 2 years ago

On my FI's side we have:

-Best Man: his best friend since they were little
-Groomsmen: his brother and my brother
-Ring bearer: FI's nephew

I have been warned that putting FI, his brother, and best friend together can cause some goofiness on the wedding day. The ceremony ought to be interesting...

CLOTHING » Wedding Dress » Pirate dress

I absolutely LOVE my wedding dress and can't wait to wear it. This is my beloved 1193 from Alfred Angelo and I am getting it in cherry (the color I am wearing in the picture). I LOVE the red and I LOVE the beading & stitiching on the train. I get giddy just thinking about it!!!!!

I don't have a picture of the back with me in it, so the one from the Alfred Angelo website will have to do:

STYLE » Inspiration Board » Pirate inspiration

Okay, nothing really to do with pirates, but that's okay, might as well keep up the theme I have going on. This is my inspirationg for our elegant/tropical wedding. The colors are red/white for the ceremony & we are adding orange to that for the reception to add some fun into the mix. Unfortunately I've had these pictures for a while so I don't have sources for them. Sorry!

FI and I are (fingers crossed) going to the Matangi Resort in Fiji for our honeymoon. We found an awesome deal on a website and although it's still a tad over $3,000 per person, it's exactly what we want.

We discovered this location at a bridal expo and what sold us was the...drum roll...tree houses, with an outdoor spa tub and lava rock shower!! I am SO excited to be able to stay in a tree house!!!! Not everyone can say that.

The whole island is the resort and they have a lot of activities such as snorkeling, kayaking, hiking, etc. They also have a special honeymoon package.
