THE STORY OF US » Engagement Pictures » A beautiful day!

posted 8 months ago

When I was in 8th grade my U.S. History class took a field trip to the Naval Academy. I was in awe of midshipmen -- they look like classy, nice, intelligent, and HOT! I dreamed about dating one and through a series of chance events I am now going to marry one!

We met while Jake was in his 3rd year at USNA so the beginning of our relationship was semi-long distance (Annapolis-Baltimore and then turned into Annapolis-New York). The Naval Academy means a lot to both of us and we wanted our e-pictures to be at this beautiful campus.

For two days before the shoot it POURED, and I was petrified that we would have to cancel. But somehow the sun managed to come out that day and the rain made all of the flowers even more beautiful!

This picture is by far my favorite -- I am looking forward to putting it in a black frame and hanging it in our bedroom!

Please see a few more pictures in our album.

WEDDING PARTY » Bridesmaids » A person from each part of my life

posted 8 months ago

Instead of picking bridesmaids from one close group of friends I picked my best friend from each stage of my life:

Maid of Honor -- Middle School Best friend (my older and dearest friend)

Best friend from high school

Best friend from college

Friend who introduced me to my FH

My FH's best friend

My maid of honor just got married last week and it's exciting to see the three of us together (MOH, best friend from high school, and me) at such an important day in her life! (and I guess her photographer too!)

CLOTHING » Bridesmaids Dresses » An obsession since high school

posted 8 months ago

All of my friends have always teased me about being preppy. I am excited to be able to extend this to my bridesmaids by going to my favorite store -- J.Crew.

My girls could pick any short dress from J.Crew that came in espresso or chocolate -- we are having a fall wedding with brown, orange, and yellow as the colors. The girls were surprisingly excited, they said that these dresses they could actually wear again. I'm glad they like the dresses and never understood why some brides put their bridesmaids in hideous dresses (it will only make the pictures look worse).

I created a Picasa album for the girls so they didn't have to look through the entire site.

DETAILS » Favors » The 1lb Favor

Last Christmas Crate & Barrel was having a huge sale...and I found these handblown glass votive candle holders that I loved. They were originally $8.95 for the amber tinted ones and then on sale for $.95!! I immediately ordered 150 (they ended up getting candle holders for me from multiple locations to fulfill the order).

The candles are going to be both the decoration and the favor for our guests!

Crate & Barrel still sells the clear version of this candle holder - http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=1340&f=26679&q=diva&fromLocation=Search&DIMID=400001&SearchPage=1
