THE STORY OF US » Who We Are » The Goose & The Koi

posted 2 years ago

This is the story that I had written in our Wedding Playbook that we sent out to the family and the bridal party members a year before the wedding. Our wedding was a destination wedding for Mr. Winter's Family so I wanted to make sure there was ample time for everyone to make plans and also decide if they would be able to make it.

Once upon a time in New York, a Southern boy walked into the Hampton Inn Nanuet. He saw the little Asian girl working at the front desk and he made her laugh all the time. He kept coming back to New York for work and continued to get to know her. They contiued to hang out and finally in July 2008, it was Goose's last time in New York.

November 2008, Goose was in San Francisco and Koi decided to fly out there to see Goose. It had been five months since they had seen each other and it was as if they had been together forever. They got to go out on their first date in San Francisco and experience the city together. During this trip Koi was able to experience Goose’s obsession with Tennessee Vols football, for the SEC Championship game. Goose was trying to contain himself and not scare Koiwith how crazy he gets during a game, but Koi had a good time watching Brandon freak out about football.

February 2008, for Koi’s 25th Birthday she decided to go on vacation to Tennessee and meet the family. When Koi got to Tennessee she fell in love with many aspects of Knoxville, some of those wonderful things were: sweet tea, McAllisters, the Goose Family, and of course her favorite Goose, Flowergirl Goose. She is Koi’s little princess. Koi also realized on this trip that Goose got his great looks from his dad and his wonderful personality from his mom. Koi also feels so tiny when she is around the Goose family because she will be the smallest Goose after she gets married.

Easter 2008, Goose goest to NY to spend the holidays with Koi’s family. Koi takes Goose around NYC like a tour guide, and he gets to see the Empire State Building after waiting in line for 3 hours! Goose goes to dinner with Koi’s parents and he gets a taste of some real Korean food and actually ends up liking it. Her parents were not expecting someone so tall and handsome as Goose and they fall in love with him just as much as she did.

August 8, 2008 while on vacation in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina Goose pops the question. He waited until the LAST day, while they were walking out the door at the hotel to do it. He wanted to make Koi sweat because he knew that Koi had an inkling that it might happen in Myrtle Beach.  At Myrtle Beach is where they both promised the rest of their lives together and the wedding planning began…March 6, 2010 is the day that Goose and Koi will say their vows and express their love for each other and they are so happy that you are going to be a part of that special day with them.

I had just started my job at the front desk of a hotel that opened in my hometown. I had only been working there for about eight months and who comes walk through the door but Mr. Winter. I had just ended my relationship so I was not looking for love or a boyfriend, but everynight while I was working Mr. Winter would come down and talk with me until my shift was over and then we would continue to talk outside on the bench in front of the hotel. He was there for work and he would not be there for much longer. After six months we ended up being friends and just emailing each other and then came the day that he had to leave.

When he left that june it was horrible. I was so upet but I couldn't believe that I would be that upset about someone that I only knew for 6 months was leaving. We both just hugged and said goodbye.

Five months later after many text messages and phone calls, we decided that I would fly out to san francisco to stay with him while he was there for work. We spent 4 days together and we realized that we wanted to start a relationship together.

at dave and busters in the Palisades Center Mall. First time he met my friends during Easter 2008!

He met my parents, the first guy that my parents ever met in a formal setting and we all got along so well. After a year of dating Mr. Winter finally proposed on August 8, 2008 in Myrtle Beach!

Our first picture together as and engaged couple, at our engagement dinner at Calhoun's on the River in Lenoir City, TN with Mr. Winter's Family.

CLOTHING » Wedding Dress » My two dresses! wedding & Korean Hanbok

posted 2 years ago

I bought my wedding gown from the infamous DB and I got so many compliments. I loved the dress because it gave me curves and I didn't want anything with satin. It was flowly and beautiful!

My Korean Dress was a gift from my gandmother. She came from Korea and had one made for me with my specifications! It was beauitful and I loved the colors. It was a risk getting it made in Korea considering I did not get to choose the colors in person and also because I had to give my grandmother my measurements. But it turned out BEAUTIFUL.

My venue the Pearl River Hilton, Pearl River, NY is a HUGE ballroom. I wanted to have taller centerpieces because the ballroom had tall ceilings. I just found a picture of some centerpieces that I was in love with and ask my florist if they could get it to be as close to that as possible. THEY DID MORE THAN I COULD HAVE IMAGED! These were so beautiful!

WEDDING DAY » Cake » Simple Cake with Goose & Koi cake topper

Cake Topper: Etsy seller OoGLyMoOgLy.

Cake: Le Petit Gateau Montvale, NJ

For the Cake topper I wanted something that represented the "theme" that we had for our invitations and our programs. We had a goose and koi to represent us. My Husband nickname is Goose and My husband started calling me his little Koi when we first started dating so I asked if they could make the cake topper to represent us. She also sent us the base and included that for us. It was so cute and all the guests loved it.

The cake was made through the Pearl River Hilton. It was so easy working with Le Petit Gateau and the cake was absolutely delicious. It was simple and amazingly delicious. I was a little hesitant to have a vendor that was mandatory to use with the Pearl River Hilton, but after all the reviews I read and the cake tasting I was sold.
