In May of 2009, Jon asked me to move in with him. My apartment was only one street away from his, but we packed up my things and consolidated our belongings into our 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom place. The spare bedroom was relinquished to me by Jon to use as a craft room, a place for all of my scrapbooking supplies.

The proposal occured on June 9th, 2009. I was working late that day and the weather was horrible, with storms and heavy rain. I left work and ran an errand, then came home. I was drenched by the time I got inside our apartment and I walked in to find Jon and Emma, our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, cuddled up on the couch together. He was fully dressed, which was unlike him as normally he'd throw on sweats on an evening like this. I headed into the bedroom to get changed into dry clothes. Jon followed me and announced that he had a surprise for me, but I had to work for it.

I was handed a small, folded up piece of paper. It was a clue. This was a scavenger hunt. The first note lead me to my stash of coffee in the pantry where the second note was hidden underneath the pack of filters. The second note lead me back into the bedroom where the third note was under my pillow. Then the third note took me to the door where the fourth note was stuffed into my shoes. Finally, that note lead me into the spare bedroom, my craft room, where the last note was hidden underneath a pink tin of die-cuts. That note told me to close my eyes and turn around 3.5 times.

I was nervous. I knew what was coming. I was shaking. I turned only once and then clutched the note in my hands and announced, with my eyes still shut, "Okay! I'm done!" and Jon laughed, "You only turned around once! Keep going!"

Finally when I opened my eyes, I saw Jon, on one knee, holding an open ring box. I didn't even notice the ring because all I could see was him, saying, "Will you marry me?"

And, of course, I said yes. :)

In December 2007, I had no intention of finding the person I would spend the rest of my life with. I had recently left an emotionally abusive long-distance relationship and I was trying to find new friends. I had found an old friend from middle and high school and he and I were leaving comments back and forth on MySpace. I happened to look at this friend's Top Friends one day and I noticed a picture of a really cute, sweet looking guy. When I clicked on the profile, it was private, but I took a chance and sent him a message anyway.

All I wrote was, "Hey, you're cute. Thought you should know."

I was having abdominal surgery the following week, so the idea of sending someone I didn't even know a message like that was completely out of character for me. Still, I took a chance.

I was surprised a day or two later when I got a response from this anonymous guy. His name was Jonathan, but he introduced himself as Jon. Our conversations started out about random stuff, like the weather or how long we had lived in the area. Quickly we began discussing our hopes for our futures, what our fears were, and the things that really made us tick.

After my surgery, I was home for two weeks right around the Christmas holiday. He was sweet enough to send me text messages during and after the surgery, wishing for me to have a quick and easy go on the operating table and to feel better soon. A week after the surgery, we had our first date - hot chocolate and hot apple cider at Hyperion Espresso in the historic downtown area of Fredericksburg.

Our first date went so well that although we only planned on meeting downtown and then seeing "I Am Legend," Jon asked me to have dinner with him.

Once we got past the holidays and January set in, Jon and I became inseparable. His family met me almost instantly after we started dating and his friends did, too. My mom met him, as well. We were lucky in that his family welcomed me immediately and made me feel like one of their own, and my mother loved him. Our friends all meshed well together, too.

Without a doubt, Jon's my best friend and the love of my life. The way I have been so blessed to have him in my life, I could never explain what I did to deserve this. :)

After ring shopping and some mysterious contact with my family's friends who happen to be jewelers... I knew a ring was picked out and on its way... eventually. He kept dropping hints that he would be picking the ring up when we went home to Maryland to visit our families at the end of September. I assumed the proposal would come sometime after that... and he would have to drag it out to surprise me, so who knew how long it would be until we were engaged!!

In the middle of a less than stellar work week, my SO called me and asked if I wanted to go to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts with him after work. Its right around the corner from my lab and its usually nearly empty on weeknights. We both love art and visit the museum frequently, so I didn't suspect anything - I figured he was feeling as restless at work as I was.

He was glowing when I got to the museum, but I still had no idea. He led me to the beautiful impressionist gallery, and we walked towards the stunning Renoir that is the gallery's centerpiece - The Dance at Bougival. There was a woman in front of the painting taking pictures... very slowly. My SO seemed surprisingly irritated at the woman's slow photography - and in a minute I would understand why. In a usual pattern for us, he suddenly asked if I wouldn't mind carrying his wallet in my purse. And then with a mischievous look on his face he told me he had something else for me to hold onto as well. He got down on one knee, right in front of the painting in the beautiful empty gallery and asked me to marry him!

I was SO surprised and thrilled. He had been throwing me off the trail all along - our friend the jeweler had offered to send him the ring before he had to pay, so he didn't have to go down to Maryland to finalize the sale! Of course he kept this a secret, making it the most wonderful surprise of my life!

The first time I saw Ben would probably have been on our 9th grade class election day - where he gave a speech in his successful campaign for class president! He was always at the head of the class, student government, debate team... you name it, he was king! I did pretty well in high school, but I was always impressed/intimidated by him and his intellect in the classes we had together. By senior year we were pretty friendly in class, but he had one foot out the door, more than ready for college! Five years later, we ran into each other at our high school reunion and realized we were both living in Boston! The instant sparks between us made up for all that time not noticing each other in the past - it was love at first re-sight!

I don't know if NZ has this, but there's a place called "Bridal Garden" in NYC that is a non-profit organization that sells sample dresses (donated by the designers) and the proceeds go towards a children's charity! How great is that? Maybe you'll find a an eco-friendly dress in those types of stores if you're lucky.

Either, I think that blue dress is pretty awesome. I think it'd be beautiful in ivory and very unique. Love the rosettes and the dress even has a train! It flatters your figure too.

I personally love the Adele Sunray dress. I tried it on, loved it, and then realized like you that I was too poor for that kind of dress.

Let us know what dress you decide on!

I don't know what to say about the guys really. This might be a better subject for Mr. Gnome, but he won't be posting here any time soon (or ever), so I'll give it a shot.

The best man is Mr. Gnome's brother. We've met a few times, but I don't know him very well. He is even more difficult to read than Mr. Gnome (which is a FEAT let me tell you), so I CONSTANTLY worry about whether he likes me/ approves of us or not. Though I am just assuming that if he didn't he would just tell Mr. Gnome. He's a good guy though and perfectly happy to be Mr. Gnome's best man.

My brother will also be a groomsman. What can I say about him... He's a teenager (just turned 17), and doesn't say much. I think he talks to me more than either of our parental units at this point though and he really seems to like and look up to (even though height-wise he looks down on) Mr. Gnome. I'm actually really excited to see him in a tux as opposed to a hoodie, jeans, and nasty/ dirty/ holey sneakers. He should just stop growing so much because I really don't appreciate him being so much taller than me.

Our friend David from college will be groomsman number three. Mr. Gnome and David are really good friends. I haven't known him as long as Mr. Gnome has, but he's funny and we enjoy hanging out with him. Sadly, we missed his wedding as it got lost in the mail while we were moving, but we are super happy to have him in our wedding.

Eric is groomsman number four. A little confusing since he and Mr. Gnome share their first name. He's Mr. Gnome's friend from high school (possibly junios high?), I've never met him and don't know much about him. But I am glad to have any friend of Mr. Gnome in my wedding.

I have four bridesmaids, each of whom were my important confidants during various times of my life.

My bridesmaid Jenn has been my best friend since second grade. We met when her family moved to Wyoming from Greece (lucky girl), since her dad is in the Air Force. We have all the growing-up memories together. Unfortunately, the Air Force moved them to the DC area four years later. I visited her once when I was 14, but now that Mr.Gnome and I live in the area we finally get to see a little more of each other.

Jamie was my first new, really good friend after Jenn moved away. We met in honors classes in 7th grade and in 9th grade her family took me in for a month while my parents were with my littlest brother at the Children's Hospital in Denver. We love 10 Things I Hate About You, adult beverages, and in general having gab fests. She's my super Type-A personality bridesmaid who loves planning and organizing and finding deals on dresses.

I made friends with Aubrey in high school through another set of friends (she and Jamie don't really know each other even though we all went to the same high school). We always ate lunch together. After college when I moved back to Wyoming we worked in the same office, hung out watching movies all the time, etc. We share a love of literature and often lament together the uselessness of our degrees in the subject. She'll be doing a reading out of literature for me in the ceremony.

Korrin is the only roommate I consistantly lived with during my three years of college, though we always had other roommates as well. We loved avoiding homework together by taking walks, driving to the Dairy Queen across town, and staying up late talking about everything. She was there for me when Mr. Gnome and I first got together (and when everything blew up with his roommate/ my ex).

Though none of them know each other very well, if at all, I am excited to bring togetehr all these wonderful girls from different parts of my life to be in my wedding.

Recently I have been going into bridesmaid dress search over drive. I feel in love with

an adorable dress from Lula Kate. But the dress runs $285.00. The girls say that price

will be fine. BUT perhaps there is another pink dress out there that will be just

as perfect!...time will tell

A few months before the proposal, Mr.M & I decided to plan a trip to NYC before classes started for the Fall semester. Engagement had been a discussion us, but Mr.M insisted that it would be months before he would be able to save up the money since we are both college students. I fell right into the trap. Months went by and I continued to jokingly ask, "Where's my ring?!" and Mr.M would reply, "Zales has it."

On August 12th, 2009, Mr.M called my father to meet him for lunch. I had a suspicion since my dad came into my office at work and mentioned meeting with Mr.M for lunch. I still believed that he didn't have the money saved up. Mr.M covered up the story with a trip to the dentist that took longer than expected. Nervously, Mr.M asked for my hand in marriage. With my dad's good graces, Mr.M went forth with his plans.

Arriving in NYC on August 13th, 2009 after horrible flight delays, we got settled into our hotel. The following day, Friday August 14th, 2009, we had a day planned full of activities. Mr.M decided that he would carry the ring with him through the city because he had not yet decided where he was going to propose. Waiting in line at the Statue of Liberty, Mr.M noticed the 'airport style security' sign and started to get nervous. He tired his best to hide the ring in the basket, but the guard nonchaulantly tosed the basked onto the x-ray scanner and the ring became visible. I pretended not to see but I was all smiles. After the Statue of Liberty, we headed to the NYSE, the new Freedom Tower and several other locations. After a long afternoon we headed back to the hotel to change clothes for dinner.

We decided to go to Olive Garden in Time Square for dinner, seeing as how eating at OG is a tradition we have. After eating dinner, we went to Central Park and walked around. After what seemed like hours, we finally found the lake. Mr.M knew that I probably had an idea of the proposal so he continued to hold off to leave me anxious. Walking across a bridge, we found a little gazebo on the water.

Sitting in the little gazebo away from most of the people, Mr.M told me, "I love you so much" and I reciprocated. He asked me, "If you could ask me one question what would it be?" I didn't know what to say so I said, "I have no idea, why?" Mr.M said, "Well I thought you would ask, 'where's my ring?' and then I could reply with, 'Zales had it, until I bought it.'" Mr.M then got down on one knee and asked me if I would marry him. Apparently I didn't respond, because I was crying so hard, and so he asked again, and I finally said YES!

We met on-line, and he found me but he will agrue differently! We talked for a few months, and were supposed to meet the night before Thanksgiving, but plans fell through. We ended up meeting about a week and a 1/2 after that. He took me to get my car and I knew he was a good guy when he wouldn't let me get out in the cold and scrap my own windows. (We live in Michigan and it was christmas time). He always thinks I'm crazy for thinking that, but there arent very many guys who would do that now adays, and still do! After a couple weeks of dating, we became inseperatable.

A guy had been asking me out for over two months, so just to get it over with i agreed. When he picked me up there was another person in the car (i know, he asks me out for months and then cant even come without a babysitter?!) My date said that he has promised Bryce he would hang out with him and forgot that it was the smae night as our date, and he didnt want to cancel either, so Bryce was coming along. (apparently a double date was a foreign concept....BOYS!) As the night went by i found myself only talking to Bryce, my date was of course pissed. We talked about our Jeeps all night. If you dont have a jeep, you wont understand ;) but not wanting to be completely rude, i didnt get his number, or give him mine. A week later i got a call from Bryce :) he tracked down my number from one of my girlfriends. and it has been happily ever after ever since!

I was Living in Germany as an Aupair and he came to visit me for two weeks. My mom kept saying that she had talked to him, and then would quickly change the subject. I knew something was up but never actually guessed it would be this! A week after he got here we took a train to Nordstemmen to go to Marienburg Castle. It was gorgeous. In front of the chapel of the castle there were these awesome stairs with pillars at the top leading to the entrance. So, i handed my camera to a stranger and we ran up the steps to take a picture. As i went to hug him for the picture he pulled a box out of his pocket and got down on one knee. I didnt even know what to do! AND i got an amazing picture of it :) *happy sigh* Being proposed to at a castle in Europe is the best :)

My beautiful bouquet. I didn't really know what I wanted in my bouquet. So I just told Chanel from Timeless blossoms in SD our wedding colors (Navy blue and Yellow) and super low budget. The day of wedding, she delivered them to the hotel room where we were getting ready in. NO delivery charge!!!! She was soooooooooo great!!

This is what she came up with! uh....we paid only $200 with tax for my bouquet, 2 bridesmaids' bouquets, 3 bouts! Can you believe it!?!?
