I have a quick, sick sense of humor.  I try to keep it to myself or share with Joe.  Not everyone can appreciate it.  I have few girly girl skills.  In fact, if it involves creativity I will be the last one done.  I loves to swim, but hate to run.  I started working out with a trainer in February and have lost 25  32 lbs so far.  I'm finally at my weight when I met Joe.  Woo Hoo!    I have two rescue kitties who I love!  Jax is a crossed-eyed Siamese and Juna is a Tonkanese.   Joe is from NY and was in the Navy for 11+ years.  I like to call him my Nerdy Nuc.  (He's a Nuclear Eng) He "gets" my sense of humor and I get his.  That's half the battle!  He's a pretty calm guy and balances me nicely.  He NEVER hits the snooze button, loves pizza and told me when we first started dating that he doesn't eat for taste.  Now, he loves my cooking and does eat for taste.  :-)  He's currently in the middle of a federal license class (until the end of December 2010), so I am the main wedding planner.  And last, but not least....he's loved by me! We met in Virginia Beach, fell in love, bought a house and now we are getting married! Christine_M on "Who we are prologue (long)" http://bios.weddingbee.com/topic/who-we-are-prologue-long#post-4254 Sun, 21 Mar 2010 08:24:07 +0000 Christine_M 4254@http://bios.weddingbee.com/       I guess for me to be able to tell you the story of us, I need to tell you about the story of me.  It is long but I am hoping someone can use this life experience in their own life and know that they are not alone or the only person who has ever been there done that.   Ok so here we go….. first of all I am what is referred to on this board and probably many others as an encore bride, personally I don’t like the term, but whatever.  I was married once before, we got married at 23, it seemed like a great idea but looking back I realized that we didn’t really know who we were at that point in our lives, but we were willing to work things out the best we could and grow and learn from each other, let me tell you this in not an easy task.  We both had to make a lot of sacrifices just to be able to make ends meet.  By the time we were 27 we had two children a boy and a girl at 28 we separated for 6 months, we did end up back together but looking back we never set out the issues and discussed them, we just ignored them and pushed on, mostly for the children.  We rarely fought, but most because we didn’t discuss the things that would cause us to fight.   One day I woke up and realized something, I was to young to be unhappy in a relationship.  Believe me marriage is a lot of work, there is a lot of growing between the two of you and at times one is waiting for the other.  I think this was the point that I realized we just really wanted two different things.  We never did anything together and besides sports and the kids we didn’t have anything in common.  I wanted more.  So I took my two best friends out to dinner and explained the situation to them.  My girl-friend Beth, wears the pants in her family and is a strong woman, she supported me in my decision, my other girl-friend Liz Kay, well she had a different point of view, and felt that the man was suppose to run the marriage and I was to do whatever it was that he wanted.  Yeah, for me that didn’t go well, and if that was the case, we would have been homeless.  Like most married couples money was our stress point, so we keep separate bank accounts and paid bills separately.  I basically paid for everything for the house and kids, and he paid the mortgage.  It worked because this way we didn’t have to deal with the issue.  I started looking at places to move to with the kids, and how to get divorced.   Ok so a couple of weeks later something big happened, I don’t want to air my dirty laundry so to speak, but lets just say he made a very bad decision and was removed from our lives for a while.  While away from us he realized just what was happening and how things were not well.  We talked one day and I told him that even though I loved him I could no longer be married to him, I just didn’t love him that way anymore.    About two months later he called me and told me that he loved me and that he would  always love me,  I told him that I loved him too, but not in that way.  He said he knew he asked me to tell the kids that he loves them and to listen to me.  He told me I was a great mom and a strong woman.  That was the last conversation I had with him.  I wish I had clued in to what he has planning but for whatever reason I didn’t.     Although my first husband had faults, I did too.  I learned a lot by reflecting on that relationship and how not fighting is unhealthy.  Why?  Because, if you believe strongly about something, or have a strong opinion about something you fight for it, right?  We ignored what we didn’t agree on, we didn’t talk about how we were going to get to where we wanted to be 10 years from any point in time.   Although we were head for “divorce court” I still to this day say he was one of my best friends, we grew up together and shared some of life’s greatest moments together.  I still miss him, his wisdom and his friendship, and have wonderful memories of him, and I realize I would not be the person that I am today without him and his influence on my life.   So what I am trying to tell you and some how install some sort of wisdom on you?  Talk, fight, yell, confront the situation don’t just ignore it, it becomes a wall in your relationship.  Realize that as much as you love that person they will drive you crazy some days, or it could be for weeks on end.  Grow together.  Realize that you may not always be at the same point, but be willing to share that experience together.  Stay connected, talk about future dreams and goals, regularly.  The day to day life seems to get in the way and you forget to have real conversations between the asking to take the trash out, what time will you be home and what is for dinner conversations.  This is the advice that I give to everyone here.    So now that I have told you the story of me, stay tuned for the who we are.      angelmeant2shine on "Country Lovers" http://bios.weddingbee.com/topic/country-lovers#post-4238 Fri, 19 Mar 2010 18:13:59 +0000 angelmeant2shine 4238@http://bios.weddingbee.com/ I met my fiance online too! Sometimes I'm not sure what brought us togethor but whatever it was, I'm glad it happened. The noise level was beyond what either of our sensitive ears could handle and Mr. Capricorn was nice enough to find me a pair of ear plugs. He had known our mutual friend since Kindergarten and I had met her in high school, but we had only met casually once before at a bar. I was really into dating different "types" of guys and he fit the mold for one category I had never ventured into dating prior, the musician guy. His shoulder length hair and unkept beard was exactly what I had been looking for in my search for an unconventional date. Little did I know that four years later we would be engaged! I call us Mr. and Ms. Capricorn as our birthdays are only 10 days apart and we both share aspects of our sign although we often express them in very different ways. In fact, I don't even know where to begin. List-wise, I like cats, sushi, wine, pilates, mozzarella cheese, Friends (as in the show), not sleeping in (wtf, I know, right?) and crafts, like sewing/decorating the house. I'm sort of in that "find out what I want to do for the rest of my life" phase right now. He's a former captain in the US Army who has a thing for zombies and vampire type movies. He's witty with a dry sense of sarcasm on top. Always kind with the words, intuitive, and has a love for chocolate. And Reese's cups. We started dating in college, Dec 15, 2004, to be exact. In January 2006, we became LDR, which we would continue until November 2009 (almost 4 years, folks. We're troopers). We lost touch and here we are getting married! We are just 2 people that fell madly in love with eachother and became best friends. We are very different ( he loves hip hop and Im a country junkie for example) but we bring out the best in eachother and find out so many different aspects of life through eachother! Funny - if you have a good sense of humor, but if you are overly sensitive then forget that.  Weird - not quite it.  We aren't quite "misunderstood" enough for that. Attractive - well, yeah! Exactly the same or Completely opposites - not really   The point is, were are not easily defined - and my theater and political science double major, now a CPA with a MS in Accounting but wants another career fiance likes to keep it that way.   Who am I?  I am Stella.  I am as beautiful as I want to be, as lazy as I am allowed to be, as organized as I need to be, and as stubborn as I choose to be.  I am always a little OCD, but I can control how much you see :o)  I like peaceful bike rides on warm spring afternoons - I like Saturdays out at the bar and drinking with friends (or strangers!) until ungodly hours of the night - I like being alone and playing my video games for hours - I like cleaning (sometimes) - I like really good conversations with friends/family/people. I don't like drama - I don't like being the center of attention - I hate when people read over my shoulder or chew their food with their mouths open.  LOVE snuggling, food, my family, my friends, and above all else - our two boston terriers, Jesse & Lucky.   Who is my fiance?  He is Brent.  He is always dashing, but sometimes unkempt.  He is really funny, although sometimes his humor is childish and annoying.  He can cook really well.  He loves the gym and hates the IRS.  He was going to do theater, but couldn't stand being around actors.  He was going to go to law school, but couldn't stand being around lawyers.  He became a tax accountant, and that's where we are now.  He is successful in everything he does, and neither of us limit our careers to a specfic path.  He does want to get back into voice acting.  He has a really sexy voice.  He is wicked smart.  He always pushes me outside of my anxiety box to try new things, and usually succeeds.    Together, we are goofy, but lots of fun.  We love to travel, but haven't done much of it yet.  After 4+ years together (and almost 3 years of living together) we have decided that the time is right (despite the recession) and we are getting married.  It has been a hard process, but now we are in the planning process full swing.
