Canberra is not to far from the beach. It's only a couple of hours down the road (on one of the most dangerous roads in the country, but hey). So being summer and all like 38 degrees we decided we'd go down to the coast on Saturday. Only of course on that particular day it wasn't 38 degrees, it was forecast to rain. But never to be deterred we ignored the forecast and he came to pick me up at ten past eight. That's right, he made me get up early on a Saturday! But it paid off I can tell you. I chucked my swimmers and parasol in the boot and climbed into the front seat. I was arranging my hat and sunglasses while he ran through our plans for that day again, Mogo, lunch, beach with his family, etc. I had one sleeve of my anti-tan long sleeve driving shirt on when suddenly he was down on one knee holding a ring box telling me it would all be more fun if I would be his fiancée. Spoiler! I said yes. After lots of hugging, I actually opened the box, a pretty shimmery mauve box, and found this beauty.

He certainly managed to surprise me. We continued on with our day as planned with occasional outbursts of "sparkly" and "fiancée/fiancé!". We went to historic/tourist town of Mogo and looked for picnic baskets and ate ice-cream. We continued on to have lunch with his family at Tuross, and I showed off my ring.

Then we all went to the beach. I watched from the sand, safely wrapped up in my towel while the boys body surfed.

I took more artistic shots of my ring.

And there was dinner and parrots and wedding talk amongst the girls. By the end of the day I was exhausted. As soon as I got home I crashed into bed.
