Me and my fiance are both in the Navy. Early 2011, we were both put up for an award in which you have to get into full dress uniform and appear before a board of higher-ranking individuals, answer questions and undergo a tedious inspection. After I made sure my uniform was perfect, I made my way to the room where the boards were being held.
Standing outside the door was a very nervous-looking, very cute guy. He was selected to go first, so I took the opportunity to try and calm him down. We introduced ourselves and discussed what we had done to prepare for our boards. He seemed to calm down a bit until a board member came out and told him it was time to report. I told him good luck and he went in. When he came out he looked pale and almost seemed to laugh at himself as he wished me luck and left. I continued with my own board and left feeling pretty confident.
A few days later I hadn't heard anything about who had been selected, so I decided to do a little stalk--errr, I mean, I decided to email him and asked if he had any details. He hadn't heard anything about results, but we continued talking.
I know you're all wondering who won, and to be honest, I kicked his butt. ;) Mushy as it may be, I won the award and he won my heart. I've never been more in love and I'm so grateful I'll never have to go a day without him in my life.
