My fiance surprised me with a plane ticket to New York City. I arrived and went to straight to meet my best friends, who took me to a Indian couture bridal show complete with champagne and a personal intro with the designer! After the meeting, we headed to Brooklyn Bowl for some drinks and bowling, and who shows up but the love of my life! I didn't know when he was going to arrive, so he totally swept me off my feet. The next morning, he told me to get dressed and ready for 'The Greatest Weekend of our Lives'. We pulled up to the Library Hotel, and checked into our room. The hotel was so old fashioned and classic New York; I loved it. He said he had theater tickets for that afternoon, so I got dressed up and we walked down to Broadway. He had arranged for front row seats to The Phantom of the Opera! I was in Heaven. I've been wanting to see Phantom of the Opera since we studied the music in high school. The show was incredible; I was in tears for most of it. Before dinner, he said he wanted to drop by The Met for a special exhibit. When we walked in, he suggested getting a drink at the Balcony Bar, overlooking the indoor courtyard. The band was playing and the museum looked beautiful. After the waitress poured our champagne (I didn't know this, but he had arranged for us to get the corner table), he pulled out a handwritten note and asked me to read it. It said that the beginning of our lives started that day, for without me there was no beginning. It was simple and sweet, and when I looked up, he was on one knee! Suddenly, out of nowhere, a photographer showed up! He had been taking candid pictures of the proposal the entire evening! I had no words - I was giddy and elated and everything felt like a fairy tale. After an impromptu photo shoot, he whisked me to dinner at Le Colonial, a French-Vietnamese fusion restaurant. The next morning, he planned a surprise brunch with my best friends and flew my sister down from Boston! It was such an incredible weekend - truly one of the greatest of my life!
