I helped my SO pick my ring from BlueNile and knew the day it arrived. But of course he wouldn't let me see! He kept saying he would wait until spring to propose (6 months!) because of the weather. Weather?? I don't care about weather! I hoped the proposal would come at most two months.
We went down to southern california for my friend's wedding and I was the MOH (1 week after the ring arrived). I definitely didn't think he would propose that weekend since we were so busy seeing some friends. Our friends received a free voucher from work for a hot air balloon ride and said they could take us with them! So the day after my friend's wedding we woke up for our 6:30am adventure.
SO was asked for his credit card shortly after we arrived at the vineyard where the hot air balloon was launching. I started to say that we had friends who had a voucher, but SO swiped his credit card!! We walked away after paying and I'm furious that he didn't wait for our friends and their complimentary voucher. He kept saying it was okay and that he had the receipt. He wanted me to take some pictures by the vineyard garden but I was still so mad! It was a lot of money! But then I thought, "Okay, maybe they'll just reimburse him."
I went and took a picture in the garden and he ushered me to another garden area away from all the people. Then he said our friends weren't coming. "What do you mean they're not coming?" And that's when he got down on one knee! I remember shoving him and saying, "REALLY REALLY??!" I could not believe it. He's not great at surprises, but boy did he deliver!
A perfect surprise proposal and then a hot air balloon ride overlooking vineyards. Later on we met our sneaky friends. And they laughed at how they changed the confirmation e-mail so it would look like their company paid for it and that it was under their name. HOW SNEAKY! We had lunch together at a custom build your own burger restaurant where they made a burger for us designed by our friend. And the restaurant gave us a surprise bacon brownie and ice cream to congratulate us! A great weekend filled with love and friends!
Thankfully my nails were just done for my friend's wedding!!
