Have a biblical reading during the ceremony. There are some out there that aren't super heavy on references to God but your grandparents would probably recognize them. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7 Love is patient... comes to mind)
You could also have your officiant alude to a higher power during the ceremony.

Hi there,
I'm new here but desparate to find some answers to this burning question... How do we plan a non-traditional ceremony but somehow incorporate God in a subtle way? We both grew up going to church on occassion but we both have very Catholic grandparents. I am very close to my grandma and don't want to hurt her feelings but would reall ylike to have my sister officiate our wedding.
Any thoughts or suggestions on readings? I'm so worked up about this. I know its our ceremony but i really want to respect our elders. I'm not against having God mentioned in the ceremony but it just feels weird to focus too much on that piece when we don't have an affiliation with a church. I consider myself to believe in a God but am much more of a 'spiritual' person.
Please help! Thanks in advance!!!!!
