We're not actually engaged... yet. But with any luck, we will be official by the end of the week. Bill is not the best secret keeper and has been talking to me about our engagement for weeks now. Last Tuesday he had a dentist appointment in the morning and took the rest of the day off from work, but made me come home at lunch to take the dog out for a walk. He couldn't tell me where he was going to be all day that would prevent him from taking him out himself. That was suspicious, especially since he'd asked me how much a guy should spend on a ring, and what my ring size is... then when he got home he told me that he'd seen his sister that day. Dead giveaway, he never sees his sister unless it's a holiday. On Thanksgiving night we were getting in the car to go home and I was putting the dog in the back seat, and I found the address to my parents' printing business written on a paper plate. I couldn't hold it in, I had to ask him WHY he went to see my parents??? Since he had had a couple of drinks on the holiday, he was all to eager to spill the beans. He had gone to take my dad out to lunch and ask his permission for my hand... awwwww!!!
He was pretty upset that I had found him out, and told me that I'd have to wait until our two year anniversary in February for the actual proposal!! There is NO WAY a girl is going to wait another three months to get her ring when she knows its coming!! After a couple of days of me trying not to bug him about it, he finally broke down and said it will happen very soon, so now it's just a waiting game. I CAN'T WAIT!!!! Of course we've already started planning the big day and have tentatively set the date for April 12, 2014. Only 16 months away!!!! I'm so excited!!!

Last night Bill took me out for sushi, which I knew meant the proposal was on the way. When I got home, I found that he was quite obviously carrying the ring box in his jeans pocket. I tried not to laugh, it was pretty cute. You could tell he was nervous, we didn't talk much while waiting to go to dinner and then while sitting at the restaurant waiting for our food. Suddenly the waiter came over to us and tried to hand me the restaurant telephone - "Jen? Call for you!" I was so confused, who would be calling ME at a random sushi restaurant??
When I answered the phone, on the other end was Bill's 10 year old niece Lindsey. She said "I wanted to ask you if you want to be my Aunt?" It was SO sweet, I was so surprised - "YES I would LOVE to be your Aunt!!" I replied as Bill pulled out the ring and gave it to me.
A year ago when we moved into our apartment, I overheard him talking to Lindsey and telling her that someday when he proposed he was going to need her help. I had completely forgotten about that conversation. Since I already knew the proposal was coming, this extra surprise made it just perfect. I am so happy and excited!
I spent the rest of the night calling our families to tell them the good news. Everyone is so happy for us, I can't tell you how many times I heard "It's about time!!" and I am so happy to hear how much his family loves me and is excited that I'm going to be a Condon. My future step-mother-in-law saved me in her phone as Jen Condon-To-Be haha so cute. It was so fun to call Bill's sister and say "Hi, It's your future sister-in-law!"
Now.. off to plan, plan plan!! We're looking at an April 2014 wedding!!
