peachapple I’m glad I’m not the only one with the same experience with meeting online and trying to fumble around for an answer that is PC, literally. Especially with older people, like my mom's friends who all found their spouse the "traditional way."
When I went dress shopping the lady helping was really inquisitive, and I truly believe she was just trying to make conversation and get to know me a little, ultimately it was just awkward.
Thanks for the story, I think I’ll try forward approach and see how it goes.

That's pretty much how we answered that question when people asked us the first few times out. Neither of us particularly likes to lie, but we also weren't ready to answer proudly: "Yes, I/he really is a geek and I/she really is a woman who practically lives in her pajamas and we met online," so mumbling was a go-to move. In retrospect, this may not have been so wise... I am sure people were concocting much more interesting stories about strip clubs and/or jail and/or the zoo to explain our meeting in the absence of any real info.
The real story is that my man is a self-professed dork who left engineering school determined to meet some ladies (sadly, weren't many there) in the new city he had moved to. I was a newly working-from-home woman transplanted to the same brand new city who discovered that her new working situation meant that she was getting too much quality time with her cat. Luckily, we both decided to give online dating a try. He's actually the only person I ended up meeting off the site because it ended u moving so quickly. And now we consider it our duty to tell people that we met online... it's like a public service announcement. "You, too, could meet the love of your life courtesy of the computer!" The strange thing is that we actually went to school at rival colleges only an hour away from each other in Georgia, although we didn't end up meeting till we got to the big state of Texas. I consider that fate. Luckily we've been able to get past our different football team allegiances here-- not so sure if that would have worked in Georgia!
