Not everyone wants proposals at sunset on a beach or in a crowded 5-star restaurant. If he'd done either of those things, I'd have been on to him right away. Instead he picked an average day, at a time that I was not expecting and managed to surprise me in a way that is perfectly us.
I'd just gotten home from work, on the sofa and comfortable. I was thinking more about what to cook for dinner than what was about to happen. But he had a surprise for me and it was sweet. He said he'd gone by Sublime Donuts here in Atlanta and picked up dessert. Since he works just up the block from there and he knew they were my favorites, I just thought what a wonderful gesture to randomly get donuts. Then I opened the box...
Taped to the lid was a note from him: SORRY I ALREADY ATE THE DONUT... WILL YOU MARRY ME?
To say I was in shock is an understatement. I'd really wanted that donut.
I looked up at his smiling face. "Well?"
"Of course!" I said
There was never a question in my mind that he was the right guy. This was just the icing on the donut.
The rest of the night was spent calling family and close friends and to tell everyone else, we recreated the moment of engagement in a series of photos that we then put into a collage with Photoshop and posted it to Facebook.
... And Yes, I did get my donut a few days later. :D
Aww thats cute! Cute story... average ways of proposing mean almost more than a big extravagant way ;)
Love it! That's really cute. :) Congratulations on your enagement!
